Big, slow, only real qualities are his strength and ariel threat. We need more of a Saylor type defender to partner Colo. Now to wait for Tash to tell me my personal opinion of a player is wrong.

Absolutely donkey ****e.

His tackling ability is good and his positioning is also excellent. He can mark players very well and cut out their threat. He also, like Saylor, times his blocks well and can read the game very well also.

He's not just a big strong gorilla, he's got all round good defensive qualities. His lack of pace doesn't let him down and Colo can cover him in that aspect. Colo has good pace for a CB.

Say what you want about Terry but he does have commitment. I remember this from the WC which cracked me up.

I certainly do think Saylor is in the Terry/Puyol mold of putting their bodies on the line for their team. It is another reason why if we did buy Samba then when Saylor returns from injury I would put him back into the team alongside Colo.

Once again Tash, your biased towards players you like. I don't mean to sound rude there, it's just an observation of how you tend to rate players. I personally don't think he's what we should be after, again it's an opinion, don't try and tell me I'm wrong about my own opinion. He's a good player, I'll admit that, but again, not what I think we should be looking at.

Samba and Colo would be class together I think. Spurs want Cahill and Arsenal have already bought Mertesacker who is a similar sort of player. Really would be an excellent buy IMO, but dont think it will happen.

How was my comment biased? You made a ridiculous comment saying his only qualities are his strength and aerial threat. There is much more to him than that and I was pointing out his other qualities.

I wasn't saying "OMFG SAMBA IS DA BEST PLAYER IN THA WORLD, YOUR OPINION IS WRONG".

If you're going to make statements like the one before, then I'm entitled to counter.

I didn't make a ridiculous comment though, I gave my opinion of what I feel are the players only qualities. I do however, still believe you overrate players that you like, such as when Barton was here and you'd rate him better than he was a lot of the time.

To be fair Tash, his main attributes are winning the ball in the air and being strong, putting a few things off FIFA (agility ;)) doesnt make a case for him being a good player. And your match ratings post game (for every game) clearly show a bias to players you like.

He's actually a really good footballer. Good control and very decent skill, particularly for a centre back. He'd be an excellent addition to our team, I can't see him coming though, bigger teams will surely go in for him.

Samba might be slow, but he gets rid of everything when in the box. Something we've obviously lacked especially from set peices.

I would have accepted him saying "his main qualities are his strength and aerial ability", but to say something like his only qualities are his strength and aerial abilities is stupid.

I wouldn't care if he didn't rate him as much as I do, but there is more about Samba than strength and aerial ability. Saying something like that suggests he has only watched him on one of his bad days or has seen very little of him.

I don't use anything off Fifa to make my mind up about a player, I watch them play first.

And Amnesiac, I didn't over rate Barton. He was fantastic for us and one of our best players last season. I'm sure others would have agreed.

Once again Tash, you fail to take on board the fact that it's my opinion. Also you did overrate Barton, the majority of the time.

Yes you did. Quite a few of his deliveries once Carroll left were dreadful as there was no significant big man to aim for, i remember when we played Liverpool away and had about 10 free kicks, all of which went to waste because he did the same thing with all of them.

I never over rated him, and I never denied that Carroll, Nolan and Barton all needed each other to do as well as they did when they were with us, the system was perfect for all 3 of them, but there's no denying he has talent.

And I never claimed his dead ball deliveries were good. He has good vision, and his long and short passes were excellent in most games.

Barton doesn't look as good at QPR, but he has the talent.

Cabaye is much better though. <ok>

Barton was and still is good but has seriously faded since the turn of the year (coinciding with the loss of Carroll). We could do with him now if we wanted to play a 4-3-3.
