Well, the last ferry may have already left. Have another shower tomorrow, and see if you have better luck
All those people who say the internet is just for young people are really being proved wrong on this thread.
I think we should erect a scaffold in front of the Bargate and anyone who offends us should be hung up on it. To ensure it really does strangle people I would like to suggest that SB3 volunteers to help us test it out.
St Godders is harmless, and his insults so general that he mildly offends everyone. The one's that bore me are the threads where people start doing the "How would you know, you're a ****ing ****** ". Maybe when a thread suffers that level of deterioration it should automatically be closed. Sadly this sort of stuff can creep into what was a perfectly OK debate about a topic of genuine interest. I think spotting the difference between irony, a gentle wind up and abuse should be straight forward. The old 606 was useless at it, but I guess if in doubt scrub it out. How will banning help? Surely people can simply get a new web address and start up under a new name?
Agreed. I've seen some posters calling each other 'a ****' when they disagree with them. There's no need for it whatsoever. The sort of flaming that's become apparent on here just recently is one reason I don't post on Saints Web and was pleased to find a decent, active alternative where people at least treat each other with respect, and I don't want to see it descend into the sort of forum where insults are hurled about and people flamed purely for having an opposing point of view. The 'three strikes' idea is a good one.
I think you should do what's required beddy. But why do you need to start a whole thread about it. There was an incident a while ago where it all got very heated. Again I missed I really should visit more. I would of thought you would of learned from that. My opinion is if someone-reports abuse to you you warn them. Why the f do we need you going on about it all the time. By the way I took offence to your last comment so please send yourself a warning. Sweet cheeks. Xxxx
Well, I agree totally that Not 606 offers an oasis of reason which is very rare in an online footy forum. Its the reason I joined. I know some will always complain about the mods, but I have yet to find an unmoderated board which was worth reading.
You have missed the whole point about the thread. You say I keep going on about it this simply is not true. You also mention about an incident a while ago. What exactly should I have learned about that? That we have more support than you imagined? That we did take the necessary and appropriate action that was being demanded by the majority on the Saints site? That the whole incident was started by three visitors to the site aided and abetted by a couple of so called Saints fans that had been banned from a high number of other sites on not606 for their attitude and postings? So yes I did learn a lot. That in the main we do have the backing of the fans on this site and that they do appreciate our efforts to involve them in the process of making decisions on their behalf. They also know that we mods respect their integrity and the fact that all are allowed an opinion and that they will not have a problem with us as long as they do not get aggressive or insulting with each other!! We have a job to do which at times is very difficult, but we will do it, as we have been asked to do.
Excellant thread - yes some will write this discussion has taken place before, but sometimes it is good to send out a reminder. Many of us were on 606 and transferred over; just about all mentioned when this started just how good this site is compared to the old 606 because there were no WUM's and people were debating and discussing; rather than swearing at each other and being otherwise abusive. You mods are doing the rest of us a great service and I know I am not alone when I want to thank you for all you have done to make this Saints site the success that it is.
