Yeah, thats kind of my point though, and what i said further up? The fan pressure led to him selling, at a price he was happy to sell at. None of us expect Solak just to accept the first offer, but it can start a chain of events just like it did at other clubs.

Please understand I am not defending the utter ****show Sport Republic have made since they took over. I am, however not convinced that Solak selling is necessarily the best thing.

I do tend to agree with this, but what major changes have been made to improve? Spors?

Im not totally sure what or where the spot is that needs lancing in our clubs with now.

It’s almost impossible to see any way out of this downward spiral we’re in at the moment. Having said that, I would rather Solak, who let’s face it must want to protect his investment, stays around, than him saying “**** it” and binning us off at a knockdown price to some fake Arab sheikh or similar.

Edit: to address your point directly, it has to be in the region of the Director of Football, who has done some good stuff (Scienza mostly), and some not so good stuff (no striker, inexperienced manager). Maybe that’s the change needed? No idea though really.

It’s weird, isn’t it? I would never, ever have thought Brentford made a good choice promoting their set piece coach to be manager. I guess some risks work out (Sunderland coach being another, Poch for us). SR do seem to take risks the whole time that turn out terribly though.

Yeah I don’t think it’s Spors, though he’s made two high profile errors in the striker and it seems too big a risk on the manager. Pretty critical stuff, but he’s also done some good things, so not personally throwing him under the bus yet.

He was an ok appointment for the championship. He wasn’t the best choice by a long shot.

I agree, but there’s literally no one at the club now who was here when things started to go downhill after the Koeman era. It can’t be down to individual people in the management.

Can you imagine Cortese letting the team turn up with no fit central midfielders?

Still would have been sacked before he got on the coach for today’s shambles.

There is just an unbelievable lack of accountability, football knowledge and decision makers at Southampton now.

I do think this ends in relegation and administration again. Maybe we stay up this season, as there are definitely 3 worse teams, but soon the parachute payments run out and we won’t have the money to cover up the owners mistakes any more.

I think you're right in that it's rotten, absolutely, but the football knowledge/decision maker part is meant to be Spors. As I said earlier, I'm not ready to throw him under the bus yet as, despite his two glaring mistakes, he has done some good stuff, and I think the hardest part of his role at the moment will be changing the football culture and clearing some of that rot out. It's pretty desperate times though, for sure.

It goes back to the Charlie Austin and Jack Stephens lads down the pub days. There is a lack of leadership at every level, whether it’s in the boardroom, in the manager’s office, or in the dressing room. When was the last time anyone on the pitch took charge of things and attempted to sort out a tactical issue?

I hope you’re wrong about the outcome but I don’t have any faith in anyone at the club any more to reverse this.

Just to add to this - I may, of course (probably) be totally wrong, and it's my natural inclination toward looking for the light stuff that's going to have me fooled again, but I will say that the main ally to Spors trying to dig out the rot is the manager, and I don't see that WS is the person to do that, sadly (and yes, of course I understand that Spors appointed him, so it's swings and roundabouts in that sense). I don't necessarily think we need a bastard in the role, but we certainly need an inspirational leader.
