Southgate would get rinsed for that squad

So is Tuchel to be fair.

The weird thing for me is that nobody ever seems to acknowledge that it's the same whoever is in charge. The people who insisted that Southgate was just picking Henderson cos he's too nicey nice and he picks his favourites, and that any other manager would pick a totally different squad, have now moved on to complaining that Tuchel - very much the anti-Southgate candidate - is picking very similar squads including Henderson too. Surely at some point you have to wonder whether these managers might actually know something...

i find no Foden bizarre, i know he hasnt pulled up any trees for England, but often played out of position.
hes started the season on fire and with no Palmer or Bellingham would have been a chance to play him as a playmaker .
because he seems to have been around so long and only played for one team in this country , i think its often lost/forgotten just how good he is

the more i think about Millar, its ridiculous, most people saying he shouldnt start tomorrow because he needs easing back in and then hes flying off to internatonal football , crazy.

i agree
we shouldnt be allowing it

but i understand its world cup year n all, but hes played 45 mins after a year out, his body still fragile

ajayi is nigerias starting center back and i imagine hes desperate to play for them with the african cup of nations in 2 months time

The criticism of Southgate towards the end was really weird. We probably should have won Euro 2020 but everything else he did pretty well.

Im not down on Tuchel as our recent record suggests underwhelming performances between tournaments but I am concerned about his constant selection of Henderson and what that might do for the future development of the England squad when you’ve got the likes of Wharton missing out.

I agree. With no Cole or Bellingham and as he is on form, its bizarre.

I wonder if it's just to keep both of them, Millar and Ajayi, involved with their squads for when the serious stuff starts, I think the upcoming games are friendlies, no? They might not get to play at all.

Maybe the manager isn't fully in charge.
Remember when Cappelo took charge much was made of his no nonsense approach and how much of the disciplinarian he would be, the red tops even mocked up pictures of him as a mortar board wearing teacher weilding a cane. Then things carried on as before.

Hopefully Ajayi and Millar will both start then be replaced at half time due to injury concerns, miss the internationals and 'recover' in time for a relaxing trip to Brum :emoticon-0136-giggl

Well, did they? I can't remember a huge amount of detail but he did famously make a lot of disciplinary changes even down to daft things like not letting them have ketchup.

I sort of wonder if this is just an example of how no matter what happens people always have this suspicion that there is something conspiratorial about England squad selections.
