Couldn't catch tonight’s game sadly as flying back to the UK, but excited by reading through the match thread after just landing and also speaking to my Dad who did watch it. Sounds like we deserved a lot more really. Let’s hope we can get stuck into Boro Saturday too!! Gotta stick with defence now it sounds like. COYS!!

I liked the front three that started and would not be at all upset if the same three started Saturday.

Made the mistake of looking on Saintsweb. The hate they have for Bazunu is embarrassing.

I've not looked at Saintsweb since before the weekend as the Hull result was bad enough without depressing myself more.

Didn't watch the game but it sounds like we played well.

Not many seem to be mentioning the formation. Was reverting to a back 3/5 part of the reason we played better?

Also, for everyone saying the CBs looked better than Stephesn & THB - was that mainly because there were 3 of them?

I think the main reason why we played well is we played with so much more energy than we have been doing. We were constantly pressing and hurrying Liverpool into giving the ball away. I think Edwards suits playing in a 3 CB formation as he likes to carry the ball out from the back. I wouldn't mind trying this formation again on Saturday if we have Jelert at RWB - he's definitely better going forwards than Roerslev.

Don’t think you can draw that sort of conclusion. We were playing a team who wanted to attack us rather than the usual low block we get in the championship. Also the free hit nature of a glam tie at Anfield put an extra spring in the step of many of the players. More than the formation was the actual personnel. Jalert, Wood and Q were standouts and should keep the shirt

And going backwards too. He dealt with, and nullified Nghomoha incredibly well, despite the Sky commentators needing tissues every time the teenage attacker got the ball.

In fact, I don't think he ran past him once.

He also dovetailed with Adarma really well on the right.

Not watched any of the game, or read any comments about it yet so don’t know how it went besides the final score. Judging purely off that I’d guess it was what we always, always do, up our game and compete with the big teams but still ultimately lose. Then everyone says we’ll be fine if we play like that against everyone else, and then the next game rolls around and we play like **** again and the players don’t put in half the effort they did against the big team.

Adarma really earned his place last night. Fellows coming on with 30 mins to go is a power move too. Jay-Rob did enough in his cameo too I reckon.

    I'd go with;

    Baz/Mac

    Jelert
    Edwards
    Wood
    Stephens
    Manning

    Downes
    Charles

    Adarma
    Stewart
    J-Rob

Oh look, it's almost like we didn't need to make any signings!* (Just kidding, sort of).

*(Yes, I know Jelert is there, but Bree would have sufficed).

Some interesting bias here! Robinson did almost nothing in his cameo!

What exactly did Robinson do? Scienza did a lot more positive things, even if he did miss a sitter.

He also did nothing to deserve being dropped from the team in the first place!

Yeah last season we largely skipped the first bit.
