US President Donald Trump has said he will sue the New York Times for $15bn (£11bn) over what the US president calls defamation and libel.

"The New York Times has been allowed to freely lie, smear, and defame me for far too long, and that stops, NOW!" Trump posted on his social media platform, Truth Social, on Monday.

He singled out the Times' endorsement of Kamala Harris in the last presidential election in 2024, saying it had become a "mouthpiece for the Radical Left Democrat Party".

Trump has long expressed displeasure at what he bills left-leaning media outlets unfavourable to his presidency.

In a post late on Monday, Trump took issue at the Times' endorsement of his election rival, saying: "Their Endorsement of Kamala Harris was actually put dead center on the front page of The New York Times, something heretofore UNHEARD OF!"

It is not the first time Trump has sought to sue the New York Times.

In 2023, a judge has dismissed a lawsuit filed by him, then an ex-president, against the New York Times, saying the claims in the lawsuit "fail as a matter of constitutional law".

The $100m (£79m) lawsuit accused the newspaper and Trump's estranged niece, Mary Trump, of "an insidious plot" to obtain his tax records.

It was filed in 2021 and relates to a Pulitzer Prize-winning series on Trump's financial affairs.

Trump also lost another defamation bid in 2023, when he sought in vain to sue CNN for allegedly likening him to Adolf Hitler. A federal judge later threw out the $475m (£369m) lawsuit.

With all of these law suits that Trump flings about none will reach all the way to a successful out come for him.. He is throwing grenades into the mix to detract from his abject failure and to distract from the d real story's of the day (Epstein etc)
All he is doing is bullying the Lawyers, Federal and Supreme Court Judges ,Court systems and trying is to intimidate these institution into backing down. The WSJ Court case he brought has all but collapsed in the WSJ favour due to incorrect filing and the proof of the released Bloomberg evidence of the Epstein Birthday card. The now " Fake Evidence" has been substantiated and proved to be true.. The WSJ is now going after him for recompence.

I don't see bullets flying at Trump, on his visit here but insults could well be.

ITV just had a live report there from somewhere he was visiting.
The reporter was standing in front of a crowd of people, many holding anti Trump banners/placards.

One, right behind the reporter, in full view, read....
"Elect a rapist, expect to get ****ed".

The news anchor had to apologise for the language on the placard.

    I found it funny.

The blokes finished as PM. There's apparently more going on about this in Parliament than we are being told that will finish him on the Mandelson debacle alone.

    My take is this.
Dont like Starmer and especially McSweeney
Labour remain the best hope of not getting the fascist billionaire appeaser in a suit
Burnham remains our best bet for Labour becoming reelectable but needs a bit of time to land in a seat
Hope Starmer clings on for a short while for now

Is this an illustration of simple people voting for reform?

Trump now advising that pregnant women stop taking paracetamol over completely unproven link to Autism.

I don't think there has been a leader of a nation anywhere near as moronic as Trump.

What an utter embarrassment for the US to have someone as stupid as him as its leader.

It’s need to be a warning to the uk when people are considering voting for our Poundland Trump.

I have just watched part of his address to the UN General Assembly, he is a textbook example of the Dunning–Kruger effect. How they allow him to stand there and spout his crap is beyond me, they should be ashamed of themselves.
