Aldridge is a disgrace for claiming that. That is clearly grounded. Aldridge can **** right off for that.
At least 3 fielders would have seen that not carry. Lost all respect for Somerset as a team after that.
It's not what you expect from a Somerset team, but there have been several examples of bad sportsmanship in this game from them. disappointing.
Only 27 overs as a minimum left. We need to slow things down as much as possible. Do whatever it takes to ensure that "catch" doesn't affect the result.
It is still possible that his fingers are underneath that (unfortunately), I think it's one of those where, to be truthful, it's physically impossible to be 100% certain one way or the other with the cameras as they are. It does look grounded, though, and batters are supposed to get the benefit of the doubt (but the umpires can't ask to look at any replays, of course).
When I watched it live it looked grounded to me straight away, which is why I went back and froze it on the feed. There's no way Aldridge would have known for sure he caught that which makes his celebration all the more suspect in my book.
Brown was also going on about having Abell and Aldridge both out on about 30 yesterday. I'm assuming they were lbw shouts, but I haven't seen them myself. He was careful not to overtly disrespect the umpires but made it clear they were 100% out in his opinion!
Yep, in a Test match that would have been sent upstairs by the umpires and it would have been given not out.
Aldridge feathered one behind but didn't walk. So that's two acts of alleged unsporting behaviour from him. Now I don't expect a batsman to walk on his own accord which is why I didn't mention it at the time. But the claiming of the "catch" is a different matter entirely.
I’ve been out all afternoon so I didn’t see the catching controversy. Clearly it’s the worst thing ever to happen in world history and the county of Somerset and all its inhabitants needs to be banished to the outer darkness.
Sarcasm, poorest form of wit, won't help your credibility. The population of Somerset should not be punished for the moral failings of a few.
As Oscar said, it wasn’t clear whether it was grounded or not. The fielders had every right to appeal, and the umpires gave it out. If anyone’s to blame, surely it’s them?
They didn't appeal, they ran off in celebration. Huge difference. And if it wasn't clear either way, no way should they be doing that.
