I didn’t see it, but I agree that does seem excessive.
If you watch it back, they were either convinced it was out, or they were influencing the umpire into giving it out. I hope it was the former, but it was clearly grounded from what I saw and I just don't know how you can be convinced that was a clean catch.

Tbf I think he did think he caught it. I don’t think he actually did, but hard to tell when you are grabbing the ball low.
It’s a heat of the moment thing. There’s a lot riding on this game for both counties, so you’re going to make a big thing of appealing if there’s a chance.

Leach and Vaughan both now have 9 close catchers, don’t think I’ve ever seen that before!
 
Annoying that Worcs' bowling "efforts" have handed Durham maximum batting points on a plate.

I get that the game was always going to be a draw, but you can at least try.
