As I wrote that the umpires decided to go for an early cuppa, as the floodlights were casting shadows. Probably that’s it for the day.
 
The Mail are linking Howell with a move to Notts, which could mean that this Saturday might be his last game for us. If so, then hopefully it's the evening game!

Yeah, it's definitely the correct time for Birrell to move on. But what I'm less sure of is whether it's the correct time for Adams to take over? Might we need to go with a more experienced coach first, and leave Adams as a potential future option? I don't know.

It sounded like Birrell was saying similar. He said he didn’t have 4-5 years to cycle the transition to the next coach. Could mean that is the long term plan.
 
Rumours that the ECB are about to hand us a points deduction for our pitch in the home game vs Sussex. Somewhat ironic timing, given the poor state of Sussex's pitch this week.
 
An 8 point deduction is confirmed. Why does it take them so long after the report for them to have their hearing and come to a decision?!

Also we are signing someone from India today apparently, not sure if it will be Tilak Varma back for the last couple of Championship matches or someone else specifically for either of the finals?

Won't be for the T20 - BCCI don't allow it.
 
I do think I want Durham to lose to Essex at this point. I know they've got Worcs next but they'd only get 4 points from this game and a draw for us would give us 11 points. So we'd have a 14 point lead over them with 2 games to go.
