Banned till November but can train with Maribor now as he is allowed to start training again 2 months before he is back in the team, which he could not with us because the deal never went through.
Aye but I reckon the plan would be that the big money comes after a successful spell with us. Then hopefully both clubs do well out of it financially. Plus the benefit of having a good player playing for you, improving and progressing the team.
I reckon no other move materialised for him so Acun took him to Maribor. Maybe he will end up here but I also don’t agree we are the automatic destination. The player also has to agree. If he pulls trees up there he could have better offers and if he doesn’t we probably wouldn’t bother bringing him here anyway.
Something that seems odd to me about Zambrano is that we've been touting him for over a year now as a huge prospect, we've made it very clear that we want him and that we think he's very good value. The wider football world will surely be aware of him by now even if only because of how much we've talked him up. We know that loads of clubs are on the lookout for cheap players who could be worth a lot in the future, and South America is clearly a hotbed for that. Given that our option to buy him expired, you have to wonder why other clubs aren't knocking his door down if he's as good as we/Acun seem to think he is. Supposedly the whole point of the loan with his ban impending was that it put us in a position to sign a player who supposedly we wouldn't have been able to had he not been in trouble. So now that the ban is almost spent and we don't have an option to buy any more, theoretically there should be a mad scramble to steal him from under our noses. But there isn't.
Maybe the player has made clear he wants to come here due to loyalty as we paid his wages for a year whilst banned?
its pretty obvious why because he has a drugs ban if he is actually good, someone will come and bid 10m for him no problem in a year or two but he's been way over rated, let's be honest
I know we didn’t see a lot of him but considering he had to operate in a midfield that the other players had been told to bypass as much as possible, I thought he looked a class act. Like Alzate on steroids, if you’ll excuse the pun!
The relentless negative starting position people in here take must be so draining. Zambrano is obviously a good prospect. Looked very bright for us in a few games despite being in a mental system. That's with only just coming over to a new continent and not speaking the language. For what will be a relatively low fee, it's a perfect gamble to take (presuming that he does join from Maribor in the summer).
Well i for one would take Tufan back in an instant sorely missing his creativeness and goal scoring prowess. Interesting re Seri, seems a strange move for him. But regardless of it right wing drift, by all accounts a lovely place to live and seems to do wonders for the pro bike racers performances.
He’s big mates with the owner isn’t he, who is also Turkish, wouldn’t be surprised if he ends back in next summer.
.... or ...... I don't think you need to be Sherlock Holmes to work this one out So, that's another one. No long term planning going on here
