A more attack minded/able fullback could make a significant difference in that regard and as someone mentioned Masuaka showed signs of what he could bring to that position as an alternative to Reinildo when we’re needing to force the game more (be it against a Burnley or because we’re losing a match). Cirkin probably adds more in that regard than Reinildo or Hume, potentially Mukele does too from RB?

Aye good points to consider mate.

I still think Enzo should play with Xhaka and Diarra. Sadiki is great but he isn’t picking passes he just keeps it simple.

A player like Enzo needs to find rhythm in his proper position, he will find Diarras runs, he can plays behind a striker (if not as a pure 10).

This should have happened v Burnley. Even with more attacking full backs someone needs to be able to play balls in behind for them. Wingers haven’t had balls to run onto, concern is neither would full backs.

Hmm i would say its not all knee jerk the like of jones neil roberts patta etc i think we have known they wont make the step up

imo we need 5 and i think we get 3 - if certain players leave they will need replaced for example patta and neil

Come Jan we need to be in a good position as the Jan window is very hard

Make no mistake about it, its a huge week coming up pressure is on to get it right - ins and outs
I just didn’t see as many saying those sort of numbers pre Burnley as are saying it now. Not saying everyone suggesting it is knee jerking but some definitely aren’t being consistent and have changed their view based on two results/performances.

The same won’t apply to the club as they will know/will have known exactly what they have and what they think they need and are unlikely to have been swayed or surprised at anything in the last 5 days.

Promotion wasnt expected? what a horrific comment - we spent 12 months in the top 6 - was nailed on come xmas we were at least in a play off place - you don’t think the club planned? such a poor poor comment

hudds made 10 changes too? couldnt care we lost we have bigger priorities but some of the stuff you have said above is a load of nonsense and just wrong

We were in the playoffs you nugget, and least fancied for them.

Half our own fanbase had us written off and a bunch of them were suggesting Reg be gone.

We were promoted several weeks after Leeds and Burnley.

You reckon we’d spoken to Talbi and Diarra saying ‘fancy coming here if we win the playoffs?’ Had we ****.

‘horrific comment’, **** off pal. My opinions. You are welcome to have different ones.

I see what your saying and an element of that will be correct

Whey the club have been consistent over the last few weeks in terms of a CB and winger

What i think and know will happen is tonights game is that RLB will have made decisions about some afyef tonight

TBF I seem to remember you saying the club was a shambles and Speakman had failed to bring in a striker ...

... or summat like that.

To be fair, finishing so far behind Sheff Utd meant many people gave us no chance of promotion, some didn't give us a chance against Coventry.

So you’re telling me you think the club didnt have a plan for promotion? A high level championship club last season who spent the whole season in at least a play off place had no plan in case of promotion? Astounding

There was lists of targets for players if we were in prem and if we were in the Championship simple as that

Your opinion is just wrong on this particular aspect

There was a plan for promotion and a plan for not being promoted surely you know that?

what i am saying is we haven't just gone ah well we are promoted now thats unexpected we best look at players

I’m not saying that at all. Of course they had a plan and ideas. Speakman said as much in January.

What I’m saying is we couldn’t action these approaches and start putting it all together until late.

I don’t believe for a second we thought we’d move for Xhaka and Diarra before promotions was secured.

Same as now, we are trying to pivot for extra wingers, we’ve only lost out on Lauriente so we clearly didn’t have a list of back ups as we haven’t bid.

You’re taking half of what I said and adding a layer of absolute bluster on top of it lad. That’s a you problem.

We didn’t expect to be promoted, I stand by that. We had high hopes we might. There’s a massive differences between those 2 definitions.

Tell me where I said ‘we had no chance of going up and no plan in place’

You’ve added that, and your use of ‘horrific’ and ‘astounding’ to try and make it a thing is baffling.

Pretty severe words for your twisted read on someone else’s opinion, don’t you think?

I’ve nowt further to add to this.

I ask as I don’t think we will be bringing that many in (I may be wrong, I certainly wasn’t expecting the window we’ve had to date) and I fear there’s a lot of people building themselves up for disappointment now (in my opinion as a bit of a knee jerk). That then often manifests into a backlash and it would be a shame to see that happen after the club’s efforts so far this window.

I do agree though that having done what they have already, the club have exposed themselves to more risk if they don’t now fully get it right. I just think that getting it right would/could be a really top left footed forward/winger and Lucumi (dependent on departures). Not the 5 or 7 further additions many are now touting.
Agree. Wouldn’t say no to another striker if we can make a big one happen but I’m aware that’s just unrealistic from a squad building perspective

really think we need to make sure we land that top quality winger

With a bench consisting of

Patto, Mukiele, Masuaku, Ballard/Lucumi, Rigg, Le Fee, New Winger, Isidor, Guiu

how do we in any way shape or form manage to put in five new players

iv not added anything

Clubs had to do 18 months work in 8 weeks as promotion was never ‘expected is what you have said

that is untrue, thats a fact. info and details on players done during last season, clubs scouts etc speak to agents all the time

I can tell you players and staff expected to be promoted and work went into that, take it how you want, no one was shocked to go up inside the club

in terms of wingers - like me you have no idea who the club have talked too…looked at or bid for so again to say there is clearly no back up list is most likely incorrect

i did say i don't expect 5 that is just what i think we need but to answer your question - you have already stuck two in - cb and winger - i would rotate rigg wilson and masuaku but again we wont be getting 5 in

If you bother to read the next post you will see the answer

also when you look at it however much we have spent you take 50 million off.

There is plenty money there

do you work for the club? Seem to have more inside knowledge than anyone on here. Glad we’ve got you to keep us right on how the club are managed and how much money we’ve got.

The ‘18 months in 8 weeks’ wasn’t literal like. It was 12 weeks from playoff final to first day, I was just making a point that they had to work fast. My post was actually complimentary about the work done and stating we needed to give it time to gel.

And ‘I can tell you’ players and staff expected promotion? You on speed dial to them like? Or is that your opinion and view, which you are of course welcome to?

Speakmans first interview after promotion.

“We’re always trying to get the balance right in terms of being prepared for whichever league you might be in, and we've tried to do that,” said Speakman, who has spent most of the last two days chairing recruitment discussions. “Naturally, as a play-off winning team, you're behind where other clubs might be, but we're fast-tracking that and catching up.

Like I said, we had to react, pivot and move fast. If they’d ‘expected’ promotion they’d have simply prepared for PL targets, no?

I think it'll just be the 2 signings, a CB and a winger. I think we have room for an extra forward on top of that but i'm alright with just the one.

As I said this morning though, the outgoings are just as important. Need to be getting some of the younger lads, who we sank a decent amount of money into, minutes out on loan. The likes of Seelt, Abdullahi, Aleksic are all a decent year on loan away from being first teamers here which would save us a good amount of money. Need to create some PSR headroom with players who have no future here and then just need to get rid of players who are frankly going to eat up minutes and wages they don't deserve.

2 in, 10+ out. Big few days ahead.

More toxic because of the money spent and playing a reserve team by a deluded manager take Ballard out of that team and we are hopeless why ?
