I haven't watched it all yet but I thought some on here might like to see the Legend Brian Horton on the 1904 podcast.

Tuesday after the Sunday, and still buzzing after a terrific game. Can't remember the last time I felt so elated after walking home from the stadium. They scored two good goals, that really we shouldn't have let them, felt Pandur was unsighted for the 2nd. However our attacking play, certainly in the first half was brilliant. Lundstrum is my new favourite player, his crossfield ball for the 2nd goal was sublime. This season feels different. Can't get to Blackburn game, in London, but already have a good feeling about it. Palmer is like a new player, all signs are good, looking up, not down this season.

Unfortunately we need the £££ and atm it's between him and pandur
We can't just keeping adding players to reshape the squad without letting others go. SJ and previous managers have all said they want a smaller squad, not an even more bloated one. Hence one in one out.
And also there's a fair chance Kamara would prefer a move (my suspicion, not based on factual knowledge).
I'm not saying incoming money won't come in handy, but you seem to be suggesting we have to sell because 'we need the money' as if it's a case of staving off going bust or something. How do you know that is what is driving the potential / rumoured sale?

There's a lot of history being re-written here, the feel-good factor of Sunday maybe rewiring some brains. Kamara was mediocre for us last season, frustrating, not scoring many goals, barely any assists and a (perceived) attitude problem. Gelhardt did more in 45 minutes playing out of position than Kamara did in half a season and we've got our star winger back in a couple of weeks plus what looks like a decent 2nd or 3rd choice newly in the building. Keeping him when we can get our money back and free up a wage makes absolutely no sense.

Good post.
If he were to stay, I suspect he would continue to frustrate, split opinion (more than any other player possibly), continue to carry this (perceived) attitude problem tag, etc.
He's clearly got talent, but we have better (Millar, Belloumi, Ndala ... maybe even Akintola, and probably others we might subsequently then bring in), and I think you are right, if we can get near our money back then it probably makes sense from both sides to move on.

What, specifically?

he was directly involved with 18% of our goals in the league last season, in what was a horrifically bad season
coached appalingly badly for the first half and then we had no attacking intentions for the last third

it was his first ever season in the champ and he still got 5 goals and 3 assists in that awful awful team that stayed up on goal difference
an attitude problem becasue he doesnt fist pump the crowd apparently

its just pathetic talking down of a player who never gave anything but 100%, but we like doing that here

Abu Kamara 2024/25 - 5 goals/3 assists

Joe Gelhardt 2024/25 - 5 goals/0 assists

Kamara wasn't disappointing, he was a 21 year old in his first full season in the Championship and he contributed plenty, some people just don't seem to like him for absolutely no good reason.

Err.... Gelhardt came in January though.

And wasn't he injured for a bit?

You might want to re-post with a goals per game stats comparison. Gelhardt scored 1 in 4 for us, Kamara 5 goals in 36 games with 3 assists.

How you can say Kamara wasn't disappointing last season is frankly nuts. Half the posts on this board were about him and what he wasn't bringing to the team, even the manager had to publicly come out in his defence. Yes he's young but so are Gelhardt and Belloumi. My issue is not with him personally but we have better in that position and in depth. Are you seriously suggesting we now need four players for each position?

You posted this 15 minutes ago on another thread:

"Our wage to revenue ratio is insane
We need to sell another player to keep being able to fund it
Thats what ive been saying
But apparently we dont need to sell
Per gone for a walk"

Are you ok?
