shame we’ve arranged two games back to back to properly alienate the players not in the “first 11”. Poor man management. Could have separated them 48 hours and had the likes of Le Fee and Roberts and Neil on the bench for the “first team”. We’ve now pretty much guaranteed Neil has to be sold following our approach to squad management this pre season
Surely the club has to do what the club has to do ... ... we're trying to manage our attack on the Premier League, not just 'accommodating' players. Neil doesn't have to be sold because of our approach imo, it's because he's either not seen as capable or he wants away for whatever reason. We can't have players in the team/squad for any other reason than that.
I mean yeh I back them over me as well. I just think two games in two days and having one be a “first team” and one be the “backups” is absolutely terrible for morale. Especially when the “first team” all jet off to Germany on their own and the back ups get left behind and all sit around watching it. Seperate the games 48 hours and you can at least keep your squad together; with players on bench and etc
This weekend is all about getting minutes, it gives the 'non 1st team players' to stake a claim by playing amazing on Sunday Id rather that than they get taken to Germany and don't play
im saying they should have seperated the games 48 hours. Keep the squad together. Can still have the two teams play the two games but you then don’t have players feeling completely alienated
Football is all about being honest with players imo. They have to know that, if they're not first choice, they have to fight for that right ... ... as it happens I don't think I've ever seen team morale any higher at Sunderland.
RLB is all about 'connections' it's part of the reason why he rotates so little. The two respective 'teams' will have been lining up like this for weeks in training - the players will be under no illusions and the allocations to each respective party (travelling or otherwise) won't be a moment of realisation for any of them. The man management doesn't come from these arrangements, it comes from how it's being communicated and handled internally. There will be/are individuals that will be/are disappointed they're not in the current first choice XI but it's all about reacting in the right way and winning your place.
Aye this. Are we saying the full first teams are playing tomorrow and it’s the reserves on Sunday? Or is the likes of Neil and Roberts starting on the Sunday? Im assuming our probable West Ham 11 start tomorrow and those with less minutes will get a full 90 on the Sunday rather than 15 tomorrow.
