As most people know there was a thread regarding the SOL being sold out for West Ham and, most likely, every home game this season, especially if we start well. Loads of people offered to pass on their unused SCs so other people, who we know, can use them providing they have accounts, etc.

There was no mention of anyone profiting, in fact some people were happy to pass them on free of charge. I gave my SC away last season on many occasions as I live in Scotland and am sometimes pulled into work at short notice. There was also an intention to help any known exiles with 'last minute tickets' at away games when people we know fall ill, miss trains, or whatever providing they're bona fide.

Due to the small minded attitude of a few selfish people, including 'Hetty' on RTG who are allowed to run the forum, this has had to be removed from here. What a sad and spiteful little bunch of people ...

... no wonder a lot of the decent posters don't bother over there any more.

To be fair passing on a ticket, at face value or even for free is illegal and also breaks the ticket t&cs

And if you’re farming out numbers to get tickets for other people for away games, that’s obviously unfair

Surprised anyone could be arsed to report it to the club though. Did Hetty do this? How do you know?
 
How sad and such a pity that some folks seem determined to spoil an otherwise brilliant idea. Whilst I was never going to use the plan, I felt it was a simple yet novel proposal to keep bums on seats. I've no idea who Hetty is but I hope and pray the he/she is proud that this action has prevented lots of fans from enjoying the game.

This is 99.9% to help people who can't attend Sunderland matches at the SOL, away tickets are so scarce they're not worth thinking about tbh.

People are perfectly entitled to pass on their SCs to friends and family who have accounts ...

... or are you saying that's breaking the law?

I don't have enough points to buy away tickets so there's no 'farming' involved.

No of course they are not breaking the law if they use the correct channel for reallocating a spare season ticket for a home match (ie. issuing it to the other person formally through the ticketing website for a one off match)

Just passing a home match ticket on outside of that channel and anything to do with passing on away tickets is illegal and against the clubs t&cs

I seem to remember a post from you saying that in addition to your home match collective arrangement that anyone who had enough points for any away game that they weren’t planning to go to … “just buy a ticket for any away game” and you’d have it …

I don’t care what you do really and I’m not a huge fan of Hetty otr but you can’t really complain in this circumstance imo mate, even if there was no ill intent - they’ve got you on those technicalities, rightly or wrongly
 
Being an ex pat I would not have been involved anyway….but my lad and his girlfriend are going to the UK next year for a wedding in Carlisle. Being a bad father I of course got him supporting SAFC. He, being an abusive boyfriend has got his g/f supporting SAFC now as well.
Anyway, they were going to spend just under a week in the UK and his intention was to take his g/f to the SOL for the home game against Spurs. If he couldn’t get tickets I was going to use this forum to see if anyone had a couple of tickets they didn’t want.
I get that it may be illegal to do so and doing the job I do I would never condone illegal activity. But to be honest, it’s still sad. All I’ll say is “no-one likes a snitch”.

I'm sure that some while ago I read on here that the club hierarchy were concerned at the number of season ticket holders who were absent , creating the impression of failing support and impacting on the atmosphere. Unless the club wish to capitalise themselves on additional revenue from selling these seats, I fail to understand why the club would object, or am I missing something simple?

The club are probably in a tricky situation.

Fine if they didn't know about it. Now, they do, and may be in trouble themselves for not acting. Just speculating.

Loads of decent people, on here, are happy to pass on their unused SC if they can't get. If another decent person can make use of that SC, and support their team, that's fine with me. One person, for example, has arranged to meet someone from 606, who he's never met, on the day of the match. He's going but his daughter can't go so he's passing on her SC. That may be against the law but he's not bothered, I'm not and the lad who's going isn't.

I'll be totally honest mate, I really don't care abut the the T&C's and whether or not someone is breaking the law. Loads of decent people, on here, are happy to pass on their unused SC if they can't get. If another decent person can make use of that SC, and support their team, that's fine with me. One person, for example, has arranged to meet someone from 606, who he's never met, on the day of the match. He's going but his daughter can't go so he's passing on her SC. 'Got me on those technicalities' ... come on man, other people might allow 'Hetty' to run their board but I think it's pathetic.

As for away tickets, if a friend trusts me enough to buy me ticket and has enough points but can't go I'll have it. As I'm in Scotland it might be just a few games a season and, yes, I'd be grateful. I know you're saying you'd never accept a spare ticket, under any circumstances, but I think you're in a tiny minority. I'm being honest, I'd take a spare for a Sunderland game if I'm offered one and I suspect most people would.

Don't forget I'm not talking to random strangers like it is on RTG, most of us on here know each other, meet up and drink together. There was 120 of us booked into the Argyll for Wembley.

Away tickets - it’s not a “spare” ticket if someone’s purchased it solely to give to a friend who doesn’t have enough points themselves. It’s a ticket that has deprived someone else with the right loyalty points from buying it to be passed on to someone further down the queue whilst also giving the buyer an extra point they don’t deserve
 
What an absolute ****s trick by these people who have nowt to do with this forum. Can't blame the club, because having been told about it, they would have to act.

The sad thing is, those seats which would have been taken up by exiles when SC Holders couldn't attend, will now be empty. We are not doing the club out of money, because those seats have already been paid for by SC holders and because of demand, some people who could have attended the match will now miss out.

Edit: As far as I was aware, this was set up for home games only. Away games is a totally separate issue

Yes I agree but, unlike people throwing their hands in the air, I'm honest enough to say mates have helped me with tickets ...

... there, I've said it.

You know as well as I do that branches hand out tickets to people without the requisite points, some people manage to buy tickets without the correct points when the system has a blip and others get them through 'corporate' when they don't have enough points and may not even have an SC ...

... the system isn't perfect and neither am I, you may or may not be but I don't know you.

Yes mate, specifically for unused SCs, away games not included in the private thread and absolutely no profit involved.

Do I sometimes ask for help getting an away ticket ... absolutely.

It occasionally happens that someone who's gone on the ticket site has managed to get a ticket when the system was acting up.

They may not have actually had enough points ...

... would they realise and hand that ticket back so someone with more points could have it, would they f*ck.
