This reminds me of when Boro bid like £5M for Greaves during the summer of the 22/23 season. We kept him for two more full seasons and sold him for nearly four times that much.

I’m a little concerned that it’s being reported that we’d entertain offers above £10M for Hughes. We shouldn’t be entertaining any offers unless it reaches Jakirović’s £20M valuation. The party line should be that he’s not for sale this summer.
I think Serg would tell Acun to swivel if they sold him...

Anything north of 12m he goes imo
But then factor in Wigans sell on which will perhaps be 20% ... we paid 5? sell for 12 = 7 profit less 1.5 sell on = 5.5 which doesnt buy you jack at his age We've sold Macca for 500k and Jones for 2 million... Ajayo injury prone, leave sEgan and the dont know about bloke form Wednesday... we would leak goals like a sieve.

I think Serge has told the club under no circumstance sell him. He said in his interview, next season he will be with a top 5 club.

I’d be offering Charlie Hughes a longer term and Improved contract.

It may only be valid until the end of this Season. Not sure on his current pay, but by all accounts it’s not at the level of others in the squad.

Look after and reward your assets.
Bang on this GLP... show how how much he's valued... makes a sale harder for another club.

I can’t see Hughes wanting to go Coventry. They’re in a lot better position than us, but still too much of a sideways step. I could see him going to an Ipswich/Southampton this season and almost being guaranteed promotion, but I think the most likely scenario is waiting 12 months and getting a prem move.

Gelhardt coming back might have an impact as well, as daft as it sounds
Yes was it said earlier that he and Gelhardt are big mates.

A few Wednesday fans that I have spoken to (all separately) say when he's fit, they think Famewo is the best defender in the league. He seems to have gone completely under the radar really due to his injury ridden season last season. For all 3 to say he's that good, we might have got lucky.

ACL incoming!

Don’t you think hughes’ agent will be behind some of this for just this reason

Funny, my German Grandpa who emigrated to Canada (he spent all his Canadian days in Kitimat), was called Heinz. My cousin on the island has now moved up to French Creek, I know you’re somewhere in the region of all that.

Which so many British businesses/institutions fail to do!

Not quite sure that maths works, but regardless I think we only paid 3.5.

Possibly.

But I can't help feeling there's another side to the timing of these rumours. They’ve surfaced right on the day - and just before - an important meeting with the EFL about our financial viability. Suddenly, we’re able to say we’ve got a player clubs are willing to pay £10 million for (or whatever).

I thought that meeting was next Thursday?

Ipswich would be lucky if the got £5 million for Greaves now - he had a very poor second half last year, he was pushed out to left back which is what Rosie did with him to stem the goals and the fans started getting on his back - not aware anyone's come in for him over the Summer - clearly people think Hughes is a much better option with the amount of attention he's getting

Also, potential ****housery from Coventry.

I think our centre-half options are better now than last season, at least in terms of ability. There are still question marks over fitness and dependability over the course of a season. Egan’s getting on and both Ajayi and Famewo have had injury problems. Famewo is a rock at centre-half. Really good defensively. A little bit clumsy on the ball and has a mistake in him in that regard but he’s improved his ball-playing abilities a lot.
