There was a spell when folk were calling for him over Pickford for England. Morons He was very good for Sheffield United, and very average for Bournemouth.
In a way it’s hard to see him not joining now but that said we could easily have another signing that just doesn’t leak until it’s done and goalkeeper would be one of them
His Arsenal form is skewed by having a mega defence in front of him. He didn’t face the chances he faced everywhere else
I'm not convinced by this article at all. It reads like too much supposition, guess work and rumours, and the fact it cites Graeme Bailey is another reason to get dubious about it. It's not that I don't think that we might have enquired about him or be interested in him, but in no way can I see us paying £25 million as quoted. How can they "confirm" we're "readying an offer close to Southampton's asking price"? In no way is this site one if our favoured outlets for transfer news, unlike Fabrizio Romano or The Athletic. This smacks of lazy, click bait journalism, taking rumours and dressing it up as fact to make it sound more authentic than it is, and get some respectablity if it comes off. For f@cks sake it refers to Patterson as being Sunderland born, when he's from North Shields. If you can't get a basic fact like that right, it doesn't say much for your research. And just to add, here's the thoughts of others on Reddit about Graeme Baile.
This was from the Hunter a SAFC supporting journalist who posts on RTG I saw David Bruce at an event yesterday. He said he was confident we would add several more players before the start of the season. And he said we had the funds and space (within the FFP rules) to spend quite a bit more. BTW, he spoke more generally about the commercial/business/fan engagement side of the club... he was bloody impressive!
I said it last year sometime on here. I genuinely believe that something special is happening to SAFC and I’m just happy that I’m around to see it start. More importantly my lad who is 24 will get to see it hopefully for a lot longer than me. Then if he has kids he can indoctrinate them into the ways of SAFC.
Ramsdale is better than Patto, he's a solid midtable Premier League player imo. But he would supposedly cost up to £25m and is allegedly on £100k a week. Whilst I'd happily have him at the club, I wouldn't want him as our highest paid player by a distance which I imagine he would be. In terms of priority for me, keeper is only 3rd. CB, CF, GK, CB, Squad cover.
I actually rated Ramsdale at Arsenal... I thought he was super unlucky to lose his place to Raya at the time. An Arsenal mate of mine was furious when that happened... But as Raya has proved his worth..he's since calmed down
I can't see us going anywhere near 25m for Ramsdale and defo not close to 100K p/w. I reckon West Ham will be willing to pay it and will probably be able to match his alleged Saints salary, but we will still be focussing on better value around Europe imo
Aye it was a surprise. Raya went off like a rocket mind the improvement in him considering he wasn’t a kid was mental.
Yeah indeed. I tend to think of it in minutes. We’ve got 42000 PL minutes to share around the squad. You expect our main 5 midfielders to be aiming for 3000 mins each in a successful season. Four of them should hit that level no bother. That doesn’t leave many for the rest of the entire squad, never mind a sixth midfielder. We basically need that 6th midfielder for between 500-800 mins each in- which is basically nowt.
