This looks like a good example of how rumours advance without any 'new' news: Alex Crooks claims that Ramsdale and Johnstone are two "possible options" for us, then Ben Jacobs takes that info and claims they are "two names we are considering". This after Alan Nixon speculated that we MAY look at Johnstone as a result of Cutler coming in as GK coach. Also, GiveMeSport cite Ben Jacobs as one of their sources so that's likely where Sam C has got his Ramsdale Sunderland link from. I wouldn't be surprised if we aren't interested in either of them
Hope we arent becoming too ahead of ourselves mind. Ramsdale is far from a poor keeper. He waa the very least of Southamptons problems. On Patto. I have already mentioned how a coach like Cutler is likely to improve him. Would improve most keepers by all accounts. I wonder how unsettled our coaching upheavals last year affected Patto. When Dodds went didnt we promote the goalie coach and bring a temp in? I have watched how keepers train and it is very much in isolation and the 1 coach is massive to the session. Just wondering if part of Pattos dip in form was down in part to that inconsistency. I would genuinely not be surprised if we see him improve significantly and rapidly under Cutler. How high is his ceiling? No idea to be honest, but for sure he hasnt reached it yet. Lets be honest not many keepers make that save from Moore in the first 90 seconds. The first 90 seconds bit is key. Mentally really switched on. That ability is a hell of a basis to work from. And lets not kid ourselves, football is littered with high cost keepers being completely useless. I will let the club judge, they know best, but in my head there is a clear argument Patto will improve by some margin under Cutler, and hopefully with some adjustments to our defensive line.
He's a good keeper but now has a bit of a reputation for being The Relegator, taking up the mantle from Roger Johnson.
I said i wasn't a huge fan of Adingra, talented lad but just doesnt do enough for me However, i think we might be the club to unlock that huge upside. He comes across as a player that might just excel playing in front of a huge crowd like ours. Over the last 24 hrs I've started to get the feeling this lad might just be special for us Really impressed with what we've done so far - only spent approx 60 million net spend as well Still plenty to do but love the pace and energy that we've brought in. Every player that we've brought in have massive upside, obviously we need most to hit the ground running but it's so exciting to see these exciting players wanting to come to us
Excellent post and totally agree.. he is still a young man making his way in the game and we don't yet know his ceiling.
Well said mate. I’m not holding any fear of starting with Patto. Of course if there’s a huge upgrade I’d endorse it but for a marginal there’s no value. Let’s see what this coach can get out of Patts like you say.
I really am. I did much of last season. However, Fell Top is spot on about the quality of some of his saves including that one that was as important as the killer goal in getting us up. I respect him but don’t trust his decision making or feet. I also agree that they must be clearly better.
Think we all agree that patto is a good shot stopper. If the new coach can get him to command his box open his gob and be able to kick a ball then he might be okay
