If we’re talking best 5 in a Saints shirt it’s gotta be: Le Tiss, Keegan, Channon, Paine & Lambert

If we’re talking most talented 5 players to have played for Saints but not necessarily at their best during their time with us then it’s; Shearer, Bale, Mane, Van Dijk & Keegan

I'd argue that King Kev was at his peak when he played for us, he was fantastic and won PFA Player of the Year.

For sure, signed as that years Ballon D’or winner so defo at height of his career. It’s more the others in that list that went onto achieve greater things after their time with Saints. Wouldn’t be a bad 5 a side that right…

I think that Shilts gets forgotten too but he won 49 of his England caps with us and was World Class.

In all honesty, Franny was **** but he was the ultimate 100% player. Think Shane Long in defence. His destruction of John Fashanu is a belter too (look it up if you haven’t seen it!)
I think a more appropriate description would be “not the most gifted of footballers”

He would have been one of the first on the teamsheet every time

and he scored a goal <diva>

Yeah he's absolutely not a legend. I was doing my favourites personally rather than best, otherwise Virgil and Mane would have been in there.

The Thornhill game is my main reason I think so fondly of him. My favourite away game ever and no way we'd have won by that margin without him.

Arguably we might not have won at all. We were under the cosh quite a bit before his quickfire brace which were both classy finishes.
Are you actually from Thornhill Libby?

If we're doing personal favourite Saints players:

1 - MLT
2 - Killer
3 - Monkou
4 - Ronnie Ekelund
5 - Alexander Ostlund/Van Gobbel

If we're doing best ever:

1 - MLT
2 - Channon
3 - Keegan
4 - Williams
5 - SRL

If we're doing Saints Legends, regardless of ability:

1 - MLT
2 - Channon
3 - Benali
4 - SRL
5 - Stokes

I would tend to agree with all of that, but it is definitely an age thing, as (although I am older than you), we are from the same era.
