I'll also repeat what I said a day or two ago about us fans wanting a new keeper. It's not just the fans who want a new one. The club do too. It's the club who think Patto isn't good enough at the moment to be number 1 in the Premier League. I trust the club's judgement more than my own.
Get Petro in for £20m, qualify for Europe in 2 years, sell him back to Chelsea £50m and then England's no.1 (Matty Young) steps straight in to win us the Champions League. Sound.
I don’t get the disrespected bit people have watched him in every game last season and made there own minds up that we need an upgrade, the lad had a great game In the playoff final but over all last season in my opinion didnt look like he’d be consistent enough in the prem
Yep. You can get away with being okay in the championship, but in the premier league you get found out very quickly. Look at Ipswich’s keepers last season - solid championship options but very rarely got a clean sheet. It’s a big step up in quality.
Anyway I hope @Bucky1989 is right as it seems she's quite confident we're the only ones who've met what Chelsea want.
I won't be surprised if the buy back is for around the £40 million mark and chelsea will have a set time frame to activate it Liverpool have a similar buy back when they sold Quansah, it increases if they don't activate it in 2 years
I'd be more inclined to believe the Guardian "story" if it was tweeted by a journalist as news or given its own story on their page. Buried in the rumour mill column just feels like a junior reporter summarising rumours from the internet.
The last refuge of someone who is wrong is using a very niche 1 in a million example of when that event happened Want me to name 4 billion human beings who weren’t up to being a Premier League player and indeed didn’t go on to be one?
To be fair he’s only played 35 games in 6 seasons in the prem so not a fair comparison to Patto who would potentially be our no.1.
Name what you want mate, im not here to spend my day arguing with loads of random people ive never met before. All im saying is replacing Patto would be last on my priority list, and we should be grateful for what Pattos done for us
Thats keepers in a nutshell, they will always divide fans. I'm of the opinion that a keeper needs to be a good shot stopper first and foremost, and Patto is very good at that. Keepers that are at his level for shot stopping, plus good at distribution and at commanding their area usually cost an absolute fortune (not to mention a home grown player). I'm all for competition though and I can see Patterson relishing it.
