Neil Young is an outstanding artist..alway has been even with his time with Crosby Still Nash and Young..the guy is a genuine legend
Anyone else surprised by the apparent average age of the crowds? Looks way older than I would have guessed.
I saw Tom Odell in Newcastle academy 2 supporting Jake Bugg years ago, really nice lad. Me and my dad were chatting to him at the back of the crowd. Next saw him a couple of months later on stage in Glasto and he found it during the set he had gone to number one in the charts.
I think it's reflected in the ages of some of the acts tbh. The new acts are all well produced and marketed but they're not particularly exciting. Older people will get more from Pulp than 1975 who are dreary tbh. I love new music but it has to be better than the likes of Dua Lipa who's good but not that enthralling in my opinion.
There's always some attention seeking prick of a performer at Glastonbury. No such thing as bad publicity though, no matter how crap you are as an artist.
That's fair, that plus prices I reckon, younger people more likely to be skint, still a bit surprising to see as by default you sort of associate music festivals with the youth.
You've lost me now tbh ... ... I've no idea what Vietnam has to do with people in Somerset watching bands play music.
Thought the libertines were decent once their sound mix got sorted. Just watching royal Otis at the moment
I think the age thing comes from the bands that are on. Neil Young, I would expect an audience higher average age than say Dua Lipa. Imo, the older generation want to see bands, whereas the younger want to see pop stars. Give me a band or a musician over a manufactured, bland pop star any day of the week.
I'm at a kid's party in Washington while 2 MCs scream about the Geordie Nayshun over the top of rave music. Literally anything is better than this.
Aye but it's got to still have the pull though. Neil Young was empty last night. Not even half the field full on a Saturday night. I think they have just mis scheduled him
I think the crowd demographic has has changed over the years. It seems a high percentage of Tarquin's and Bunty's now, public school middle class toffs. Maybe thats what the organisers want...higher spend.
Maybe. I just found it mad to have young on the Saturday night pyramid slot. Today is a canny strong day. Never heard of these young lads form Aus, Royel Otis. I think they will get canny big. Sound is perfect for feel good vibes in the sun. Carries well.
