I do understand the current hatred of the multi club model but honestly think it will benefit us long term. Players like Matsuki have had good seasons out on loan in Turkey and will either help on the pitch or will generate good income. It just takes time for the benefits to come through.
Dragan's got his own custom made Saints watch! People who want him to sell up - be very careful what you wish for. Clearly, we've got an owner who cares a lot about the club and has got lofty ambitions for Saints, even if his tenure has got off to a very rocky start. Now we've got Spors and Still in place, I genuinely think we've got a bright future under Solak. I'm glad he has no intention of selling the club.
If we keep Matty then I'll believe he's ambitious. Another season of selling our best and keeping the dross will prove otherwise
I do agree but keeping players like Matty is very hard to do when you are not in the Prem. If we do sell Matty then providing the money is invested in the squad and we get the recruitment right that could be just as ambitious. I like what Dragan has done so far with Spors and Will Still and I feel a lot more optimistic than I did this time last year before he became hands on. For the first time in years I really do think we are starting to move in the right direction.
I get that he would prefer to join Fulham over us, but if we arent able to develop players with Goztepe and then use them at Saints... what is the point of the multi club model? Loaning them players isn't a benefit, as we could loan to other clubs. Signing players that can't get UK visa's isn't an issue if we can't actually get them to Saints, like Romulo. The first opportunity for the multi club model to benefit Saints and we don't do it.
If we had stayed up chances are we would have gone in for him but there's no chance he would join a Championship team.
I suppose we'll never know. Although his contract is until 2028, assume these players are told the pathway is to go to Goztepe then Saints, we should be telling him he can go to England (Saints only) for bigger wages and to show case his talent to the world, or stay another season in Turkey. I was patient at the start as it obviously takes time to develop players for Saints. But the fact we are still seeing zero benefit, despite us buying the odd player for them, is starting to take the piss a bit.
Not really. It took a while for City to get the benefits of Savinho and Chelsea have only just welcomed Andrey Santos into their squad after being at Strasbourg last season. These things take time.
I know. My comment on loans was because some say that a benefit of the model is to loan players to develop, but it isn't really any benefit to us. My point is that we benefit them by sharing our scouting and also buying players to loan to them. Whereas the benefit for us is that when they develop a good player of their own, they come to us. The latter clearly isn't happening.
