No as they have added more about him being unimpressed and how Roma want to sell him by the 30th and that we are the likely destination.

The first link we got about him was just that we were interested

oh okay. Sounds more concrete than I’d like!! Not keen on him at all even if we do need another left back.

Just remembered I joked a couple of weeks ago that Speakman would need to outsource the selling of players as he’d have too much on his plate for incomings :D. was a throw away comment but maybe indeed they will split that somehow with the new guy

I don't know for sure, but I imagine that the effect of spending ahead of the end of month is relatively negligible since it will be amortised over the length of the contract. The immediate effect tends to happen the other way (on sales) since they are realised in the accounts immediately. That's why we've seen mini-firesales and dubious youth player swaps in advance of the end of June. Also worth pointing out that our end of accounting period is 31st July, so we're a little out of sync.

The impact of any spending is reduced by the amortisation, totally agree with you. If our average contract length is 4 years, and our 24-25 season profit is say 10 mil (no idea if this correct or not, but to illustrate a point), you would have to spend 40 mil to take our 25-26 profit to nil. I might be mistaken, but I think we are incentivised to try and get our deals done before the end of this month where possible. Guess it depends on the selling clubs tho, and when they want to put through the deal

Yeah it’s a question of the definition of the amortisation period. If it’s true contract length then it makes little difference (since the contract will be 4 years plus a tiny little bit extra). I’d always assumed that was how it worked since people always talk about ‘amortised over the length of the contract’. If it’s is defined without accounting periods, though - and you’re either in one or not - then there’s definitely be an incentive to do them early. Technicalities that I have little idea of though!

It's two solid sources saying we are after him now, however if he's unimpressed he can chew on Mayenda's foot
He is coming across as a bit of a mercenary if that report is to be believed, no thanks
