i think I follow you. Thanks for explaining. If I’m understanding right, that means we would have an incentive to spend before 30 June, rather than after. Best to spend in the current window, reduce that profit closer to zero. Should be an interesting week ahead

 

The biggest saving grace if we'd stayed down would be that the club has come on so much in the last 5 years.

As it is, we've got that and a crazy summer transfer window to enjoy.

Took tomorrow off and I'm forecasting a busy transfer news day for us, gonna chill with beers and feet up watching it all come to fruition

I don't know for sure, but I imagine that the effect of spending ahead of the end of month is relatively negligible since it will be amortised over the length of the contract. The immediate effect tends to happen the other way (on sales) since they are realised in the accounts immediately. That's why we've seen mini-firesales and dubious youth player swaps in advance of the end of June. Also worth pointing out that our end of accounting period is 31st July, so we're a little out of sync.
