They’ve turned really arrogant ever since their takeover. I hope they fail to go up this season, but can see them doing well unfortunately.

They are arrogant as ****. Their fans claiming Iwata and Paik were the best CM outside of the Prem and could play for some PL teams last season hahahah

Yeah this is my main query. I'd argue wide left is probably one of our positions of relative strength. Obviously we need options and this lad looks good. Plus there's little point in trying to understand our transfer priorities this early in the sequence. You do deals when you can do them. However, I wouldn't have necessarily had getting a left winger who can occasionally moonlight on the right as being the most important deal to do. Let's see what the lad can do if he comes.

Mundle is our only natural LW option though after Watson’s departure.

Isidor & Mayenda are more of a striker ilk & Le Fee is a central midfielder

I don't think it works that deals can be done in order of importance. We'll have targets, and we'll move on them as opportunity presents itself. Our most important signing could easily be the last.

Yeah. However, loading significant money into a position of strength isn't the best way of maximising what you have. I'm not going to complain too much as, as I say, its far too early to look at the position as a whole. However, I'd probably have a couple of central midfielders, a centre half and an absolute stick on right winger as being higher priority. If signing Lauriente doesn't impede our ability to sign players in more important positions then all good. We won't know that till later on this summer though (if at all)

No I know - and acknowledged in my post. We'll better know where we land towards the end. If I have my glass half full, the fact that we are improving one of our most prem ready positions is definitely a good sign. Just looking at this signing on its individual merits and extrapolating. We'll take stock in September.

I hear you but having 2 wingers on each side is an important position for us, for me. If this lad was gonna be £30m I'd probably agree more with you. But at £15m I think its a good investment.

Just touching on Sassulo while we’re talking about Lauriente.. why has nobody ever snapped up Berardi? Seemed to be one of the most consistent players for the teams lingering around the European/mid table places. Obviously kicking on a bit now like

Can't see any way that KS and co would sign someone for a lesser important position which would restrict their ability to sign a more important position later.

Hopefully. We'll see as the summer progresses. It's all about money onto the pitch. Does this lad end up being enough of a step up from Mundle to warrant committing that £15m here instead of elsewhere? Does signing Bischoff for a third of the price and putting that £10m into a better right winger see us better off? Or even saving that money for future seasons? Does replacing the standout performers on promotion have a corrosive impact on our long term ability to recruit and develop talent? Being a bit negative with that last one but they are all interesting questions that we'll see the answer to in time. Speakman has earned our trust for sure, though.

They would if they misidentified our most important target positions

Probably unlikely but I definitely wouldn't rule it out. Certain positions they've been more hit and miss than others when it comes to recruitment (albeit not necessarily out wide). And there is a seed of doubt in my head that comes from the change of structure. Is this a Speakman signing or a Ghisolfi one? Will we be more or less successful with a change in focus?

It's all unknowables as I say. We may never know if signing Lauriente at this point impacts the deals we can make later in the summer. And there's no point in worrying too much until we can see the whole picture. Maybe I'm just being a bit awkward too:emoticon-0102-bigsm. But online lust for transfer activity doesn't necessarily mean that these deals are absolute slam dunks. If I refine my view of why the KLD era has been successful, it is undoubtedly down to talent acquisition to a fair degree. However, I'd argue that the success has primarily been driven by talent development. It's a complex picture. I'm sure it'll work out okay though:emoticon-0103-cool:

Yeh, they'll have made those considerations for sure. And as well to an extent there's the potential of analysis paralysis if you are reluctant to buy players "in case" something better comes up in other positons etc. To an extent you have to take punts at some point. What will set us apart is if our punts come off.

Would imagine a Henderson decision will be made soon - Can see why Forest are in for him with them being in Europe this year needing more squad players

Don’t we have £200m+ to spend

We need to go the forest route with the spending on plenty of quality and depth of quality. They’re the only ones who have managed to stay up
