A pint was 1/10 at the Stable Bar in the Croft Spa Hotel (near Darlington) in 1968. It was a pretty cool place frequented by all us young and trendy (we thought) mods.
Might have been in that pub at the same time as you sometime in 1968. My wife and I lived in Darlington at the time and on the weekends if were was not poping back to Hull for the weekend would go there. What were you doing in Darlington.

I can't remember what price my first pints was in 1968 when I was 14 having my first.

Same year as me Rover: HB Mild :emoticon-0119-puke: was 9p a pint, Bitter was 10p a pint - easily get pissed for a quid, 18 months later I could go round town, get into Malcolms, or Baileys and finish the night with a carpet burger from Bus Station :emoticon-0119-puke:, the whole night for 2 quid! Never enough for a taxi home mind so was always a yomp home to Bransholme.

In the 80's I always had money for a taxi home from Spiders, problem was I could never get one so had to walk home to Bransholme hoping to flag a taxi down on it's way back into town. :emoticon-0138-think

Still can’t believe Joseph cost the same amount of money we spent on Fryatt and McLean combined.

Sold up the river by Bruce hahaha. We Spunked too much on him and Bairstow for me personally. We’d have been better spending that money on one player and getting someone half decent imo. Neither of them have shown me anything that even gives me an inkling that they’ll come good.

I'm concerned at all this money Geldhardt will supposedly cost us and Bairstow supposedly cost us, considering I've never heard of either player. They do seem remarkably similar to Gelhardt and Burstow though?

The deal for McBurnie feels like it has been ‘close’ for weeks. It’s eerily similar to what happened with Moore and Thomas-Asante last summer. The good news for us is that it’s much earlier in the window this time.

Tell his agent that our offer expires in 48 hours and we will move on if he doesn’t sign a contract with us by then. Personally, I don’t think McBurnie is that good of a target to be simping over this much whilst he plays hard to get.

According to Dull Daily this morning his contract doesn't end 'til 30th June so he's weighing up options.

**** me mate, was it that cheap? I know wages wasn't high because I had an apprenticeship at Shiphams with a weekly wage of £3 16 shillings the following year when I left school. Thanks mate, those prices amazes me. :emoticon-0145-shake

Ajayi’s contract with West Brom didn’t expire until 30th June either and he agreed to join already.

Tell his agent something like ‘It’s part of our new transfer policy that we won’t wait past an allotted time once we’ve made a contract offer’.

Agreed, why should we always be the ones waiting then get ****ed?
Choose the players you want, give 'em an offer and tell 'em there's a time limit on their decision.

I dont think its 'simping' over mcburnie
Its the nature of most contract talks
Especially when a player is available on a free
We will find out in a week if he signs for us or not

I dont even like him, think hes a ****
But i want him to sign for us
But hes fine to weigh up his options
Thats one part of being a free agent

I think you struggle to find a better all round forward in the championship than mcburnie
Especially without spending £10m

We just weaken our own position by giving him 48 hours, at this point in time it’s hardly a big rush. He might still sign for us he might not, I’m sure there’s lots of other options being weighed up and talks and offers for other targets. If one of them agrees to sign first McBurnie will probably be off the menu for us anyway. An arbitrary deadline achieves nothing positive for us.
