If I'm going to guess, I'd say it might be fitness issues. From him being signed it always seemed to be "he'll but fit at the end of September/October etc" then you'd hear he'd had a set back putting it back another couple of weeks, only for it to be repeated again as the new fitness deadline came into sight. When we did get him on to the pitch, he seemed to pick up knocks regularly. That's why he didn't get as many games as he should have. To me, it just sounds like there's some underlying issue that needs to be sorted out, which again could be why the fee quoted is so small.

He was in Ligue 1 team of year 12 months prior so the kid can play.

They are quite similar players tbf, lamine camara is obviously a level above and thats why so many top teams are after him. Camara preferable and Kone more realistic is how i have been viewing the two of them.

Interestingly the most impressive I have seen Kone was against Camaras monaco (although he didnt play):

From what i recall he didnt actually make the team of the season, which makes sense as he wasnt even the best midfielder at his club - he was given a lot of freedom by the existence of sekou fofana but once he left samed looked really quite poor and even when they were together he was quite prone to a mistake.

He has some ability but definitely was a bit overhyped when he was initially linked.

Jumps straight out great awareness and great vision of space.

    Definitely PL attributes them.

Looks super quick to react as well.

Totally agree, even his few appearances for us showed there was something there, he just didn't get a chance to show it often enough. That's why I think it might be an injury issue. It's a shame, a bit further down the line and it's a gamble worth taking at that price, imho, but not right now. Unless the issue is sorted out.

Mind if Samed going Stuttgart can we look at Nartey or Keitel?

They have a bunch of midfielders.

Makes his decisions immediately and doesnt hesitate, with being so young it isnt always the correct decision but that will develop.

Hopefully Chelsea let us have Bakwa if they're signing Fofana :smiley-finger007:

I liked the one where he’s won it on half turn, realised the ball is loose and straight into a second motion to recover.

Impressive, and definitely something we lack (Jobe had a bit of that)

Liked the one at 1:42 instantly sees a slightly slack pass and pounces, doesnt let teams play around him

Deffo a lot of attributes we need.

Camara would be very pricey, and we’d be battling a crazy amount of teams, definitely a good alternative.

I love the way Camara just pivots from defence to attack though he’s a proper player. Was disappointing v England mind.

Alongside Sunderland, the likes of Everton, Fulham, and Leeds United are also said to be keen, but according to a recent report from Ukrainian outlet Champion, it is the Black Cats who are “main favourites” to seal a £16.7 million deal, at the time of writing.

Any concrete bid for Vanat may have to wait, however, with the striker currently away at the U21s European Championship. And while his international duties look set to delay any kind of resolution regarding his future, they have also afforded curious Sunderland fans an opportunity to see him in action.

On Thursday evening, Vanat played a full 90 minutes in a 3-2 group stage at the hands of Denmark, putting in a solid but relatively quiet display. On Sunday, however, the attacker opened the scoring in a 2-0 victory over Finland, and picked up UEFA’s official Player of the Match award.

There was lots to like about his showing too. The most obvious praiseworthy moment, of course, was his goal. The forward cannily peeled off the back of his man to prise open a bubble of space in the box before firing in a fierce left-footed effort that drew an instinctive save from the Finnish goalkeeper at his near post - the rebound would fall kindly into Vanat’s path once more, and in a lethal flash he had shifted the ball onto his right boot, allowing him to thunder in another arrowing strike beyond his helpless opponent.

It was the goal of a natural finisher, sharper and more alive than those around him - and ultimately just rewards for his dogged endeavour.

But even taking his opening strike out of the equation, there were moments of real promise from Vanat. He led Ukraine’s press admirably from the front, setting the tone for a fairly dominant team performance, and in possession he frequently offered himself short to hold and link up play, while also hinting at a propensity for running in behind and stretching defences.

It is, in other words, easy to see why he enjoyed so much success in Ukraine this season, and indeed, why so many English clubs are reportedly keeping tabs on his progress. One good performance does not a Premier League striker make, of course, but on the strength of his outing against Finland, Vanat has certainly shown why Sunderland would be right to monitor him.

He probs didn’t do much wrong, just I’d told a few pals to ‘watch this kid’ and he didn’t do anything standout.
