Sometimes it's perception, a DM in an attacking side expected to win more or less all their games is a thankless role, often seen as a redundant role (it isn't) think of Cory Evans in League One vs. Championship when teams were able to resist us, in League One is was seen as a waste and after promotion as a necessity.

Also Henderson has always had a good engine and brain, he was never the best technical player on the pitch but made up for it with running and awareness.

I just want a proper powerhouse of a DM who sits deep and dictates from the back. Gets stuck in, positionally sound, good at taking the ball on the turn. Takes the ball off the centre backs instead of letting them play longer balls through the middle. Rodri is obviously the best there is at the minute but his profile is the benchmark for me.

Honestly I think unless we can unearth some gem from abroad, Henderson would do a great job at what you're describing, sitting in and starting attacks, knows instinctively (500+ matches) where to position himself, good distribution and great brain.

He’s good for the squad and to help see games out late one. As well as knowing what it means to play here. I’m for it at the right cost
If the cost is free and he's one of the lowest earners, I agree. I just don't buy into the experience thing to be honest, it didn't exactly help Ajax see out winning the title despite leading by 9 points. I'm watching clips now and I'm petrified as to what Wirtz, Palmer and the rest of the elite 10s will do to him.

Still very good on the ball, averaging around 95 touches per game, so you can nullify his lack of ability to move. Here he'd get under half of that so I just really don't see the point.

Ajax had a very thin squad as well don't think they had a real natural replacement
Playing for Ajax, where they are comfortably better than the majority of the dutch league, is significantly different to playing for probably the weakest team (on paper) in the premier league. Total different animal and hes only going to age as time goes on.

Here we go, sort of news we want to be hearing, hopefully positive announcements to follow in the next month. Forgot about Mundle on my initial contract extension list.

Re JP I would like to think he wanted a club with champions league football. England's number 1 and sat with Everton. Surely he wants to win something.

I think if Henderson returns it may turn out similar to when Defoe came back.
Sounds a reasonable idea but too many have said things like too slow and legs have gone.
I wouldn’t like to see him looking poor with opposition players getting past him easily.
It’s a no from me.

Going back rarely works out in football
