....are going to have to have a massive shift in mindset next season if we're to be any sort of an asset to the team rather than a hinderance. The playoff semi-final game and Wembley showed how important we can be but there's been times through the season when it's been massively problematic. We're going to have to understand en masse just what an uneven playing field it is that we're coming into and guard against it becoming toxic and so damaging what is largely a great relationship with a great bunch of lads throughout the club. Even this season we've booed the youngest team in the league off the pitch at half time whilst drawing a game, having not lost a home game all season at that point (six months into the season) and sitting a few points off the automatic places. Despite all we've had fans calling for Le Bris' head, wanting Speakman and KLD out, and calling the players worst than ****e - right up until a couple of weeks ago. I think/hope we can start to show a little faith and patience in them, realise that we don't always know better (or anything in most instances), god knows they've earned it.
All fair points but remember, as with this board, it's only a small, if noisy, minority ... little you can do with people like that Sheff Utd fans were fighting to get out when Watson scored ... ... we'd already decided to clap the lads off if we'd lost.
On the back of that Smug, I went for a peer just minutes before we equalised, and there was our fans leaving. Strange.
Well said Culinary....at times next season it'll be a hard watch and just like the last 3 games the fans have got to get behind these lads come what may. Teams hated coming here in the Reid era and we've got to get back to that mentality. The players wont be afraid to give their all and neither should we fans.
What they might lack in skill, the lads will make up for in effort and will give everything, we as fans need to back them from beginning to end. We can't match clubs spending power, but we can beat them for passion and giving everything for the shirt
How many though Bob lad, don't believe it would have been a large number... someone near me said he had to go for his train a few minutes before the end
Chunks.... We matched the parachute clubs this season and can do a decent job next season with our managers nous and a team that never gives up Whoever thought up 'Til the end' deserved a medal.
Online SAFC fans need to sharp realise that we’re entitled to **** all - particularly in the top league. The odd few in the ground need to learn it too. Our fanbase can work miracles if they decide to. However they can also nail our relegation. Need everyone next season. Til the end.
It now confirms the absolute insanity of folk calling out Regis. He bossed them play offs. He made a plan and it was beautifully executed. He know our strengths, he knew what the oppo wanted to do and he stopped it. All season we punched and punched. We were never on for4th pre season. The online ****ers could have derailed it. The ones that show up to whine and leave could have too. Them scenes at both semis and the finals are what we truly are as fans and I feel immense pride seeing the footy pages and other clubs fans saying ‘wow, look at this mayhem’ We are great fans, sadly online only brings misery cos happy lads don’t post that they’re happy.
Just hope fans, and the higher ups at the club, don't panic if we don't win for the first month and get battered by the likes of Brighton. This promotion sets us up for the long term, short term we might have a really poor season but 5 years from now we'll look back at this promotion as the real turning point.
Couldn't agree more mate, the players never gave up ... ... shame some supporters gave up whenever it suited them.
4th bottom and we should all be doing knee slides mate. The gal is huge but us and Leeds have a shout. It has been done. Bournemouth, Brighton, Fulham, Brentford. They’ve all done it and they’ve all done it with a plan. Us and Leeds will have a plan.
The core didn’t, and never will mate. I think we’ve set standards in these playoffs. The absolute limbs and mayhem I genuinely think this is a lot of the fans we lost in the hard times, I’m talking about the real ones who it was just too much pain for. I feel them scenes were us winning some back. I have never heard a noise like that Ballard goal, I have never seen anything like it. It was like a release of 8 years of hurt and it was just the most wonderful thing to be a part of. We only managed 90% of it for Tommy,90+5 but even that was probably the 3rd most mayhem I have seen, with Borini 2-1 being the sandwich filler. I truly believe we brought a few thousand ‘ghost fans’, real ones, back from the dead when Big Dan did that.
I couldn't get over the missus saying there was Sheff Utd fans on the tube when they were going back to the hotel when she was watching the final minutes on her phone
Quite right. I also believe the club are really pulling out all the stops with the merchandising, match days etc ... ... in comparison the Sheff Utd effort, at Wembley looked shabby and cheap. Leaving scarves on seats is pretty poor in my opinion. and reflected in their fans support and celebrations when they scored. There's a clip I'll post, in a minute, that couldn't highlight the difference any better ... at 1-0 up their end 'is like a funeral' with empty seats everywhere.
Didn’t notice in the moment mate but when you see the highlights before kick off the difference in our end and their end is madness. Also wish I could have seen it in the stadium but there lads looked tense as **** and ours were all laughing and joking. The lads knew. They ****ing knew mate.
I have all the time in the world mate I’m at in Blue Marlin Gran Canaria chilling and my lass is spark out
