If the team you're chasing don't drop points then it's impossible, never mind unrealistic.
The reality for us as it turned out was that to finish even 15th from where we where when Selles took over would've required us to have the 7th best form in the league in the period since he was appointed.
We’re talking about the targets Selles was set when he was appointed, I don’t think Acun and the board had a crystal ball when they were setting them. Obviously teams are going to find form and pick up points, I think that’s what was expected of Selles. We didn’t really did we.

Hardly Selles' fault.
Concrete reports in turkiye suggest acun wanted arda turan to be citys next manager but didn't happen. Now i'm presuming this is as of yesterday and not pre selles, either way i think selles is a dead man walking. Acun will lose the fans if he sacks ruben, it'd be a disgrace imo.
Would he get a visa?
I think the problem at City is not managerial ability but owner expectations.
Try buying a decent striker, Acun, and then see where we go.
I don't understand the hysteria (on X) around this meeting on Tuesday - it seems logical to have a thorough review around where things went wrong and how they can be improved for the next season. Obviously sacking Selles would be farcical by the way!
We need play off form to finish mid-table. Selles isn’t a miracle worker.
So how I read it - he was likely a Walter or selles alternate.
Coventry were 3 points above us when he was appointed and finished in the play offs.
Portsmouth were 2 points behind us bottom of the table and finished mid table.
QPR were in equal points with equal games played and a worse goal difference and finished mid table.
It was hardly an impossible task, it was a 3 point gap.
Good so conversation over. Acun isn't going to sack him as he's a long term appointment, even if we'd gone down he'd have kept him.

@Amin not really quoting you but found the text you found interesting and little bit hilarious from Acun .
From my point of view I really want some stability, some truly longer term planning and patience from the owner. Consolidate mid-table next season and build for a more realistic promotion push in 2-3 years with a stronger settled squad.
I don’t think Selles will get replaced unless Acun has managed to get a blow your socks off kind of appointment.

i think you make some good points, as does PLT to be fair, i think its an interesting discussion and good to see the back and forth put across without the usual pettiness.
I think Selles deserves a crack with a striker, with the injured players back and see what he can do, but i dont think he did an unbelieveable job like most others, i think he did the barest of minimums, when you go into final day and its not in your hands, you really are scraping through and i think he had enough time to make it a little more comfortable then it was .
when i get a PDR at work, i always score 3 out of 5- doing as expected.......im never gona get a 4 or 5 as they are exceeding what is expected and i spend half my day on here
Selles is definitely a lower end 3 , it wasnt an amazing job- it was an ok job in my opinion, deserves a chance to push into a 4 or a 5 with some help but not pretending he was a messiah.
And Portsmouth produced an absolutely ridiculous run of form to achieve that. Ironically they were the only side in danger of relegation who didn't sack their manager. Amazing what consistency can do.
Qpr similarly didn't sack their manager.
