Pandur is rightfully player of the season but he is also massively over rated. He's player of the season in a team that stayed up by the skin of their teeth. How many clean sheets did he keep?

I think it's 6 clean sheets since Selles took over.
A (major) part of the 8th best defence in the division.
That, in the last 15 games, didn't concede more than 1 goal in a game
That since Selles took over, only conceded 3 on 1 occasion (3-3 v Leeds) and 2 goals on 4 occasion.
That's pretty remarkable imo.

Remember Jak having putting in an all time classic performance at home v Wednesday one year. Pandur never had a game like that. I seem to remember Jak being pretty inconsistent on the whole thougj though and having some pretty **** games and ‘doing an Alsopp’

Pandur is as steady as you like.

With Pandur two end of season incidents come to mind . .
McLoughlin ..stupid corner given away which led to a goal .No shout from the keeper .
Derby goal .Cross should have been claimed by the keeper .

It isn't just about shot stopping .

Pandur is as steady as you like.

He's made a couple of errors leading to goals. But by and large I'd agree he was solid. Still think we need competition for him to push him to greater things though.

Both of those were/are better, but both also had five or six years on Pandur.

Where Pandur is now, he's a solid Championship keeper and would probably do alright as a PL back up keeper. But if he has another good season, much like Johansson at Stoke, he'll be off.

It's not even PL teams that might be interested in him, there's current interest from Dinamo Zagreb; Zagorac looks like he'll retire and the two keepers they signed at the start of this season they ended up loaning out as they weren't happy with them, so if they offered £5m - £7m he'd probably be gone.

Hope so. Seems evident that they don't think Racioppi's any better as backup, but I'd prefer having 2 keepers each being capable of holding the jersey.

I think the debate around Pandur is strange. There are some people really inflating the mistakes he's made leading to goals, which I think is a pretty short list of relatively minor mistakes really. I think in terms of being a safe pair of hands and rarely letting his team down he's as good as you could ever really expect.

The distribution side of his game is the clear drawback, and some people on the other side of the argument are very quick to dismiss that. It is a huge thing in English football nowadays whether people understand that or not, and I think some people could do to be more open to understanding it.

If we need to bring in cash and someone is offering us money, then I don't think we'll be as desperate to hold onto him as some people think we will. I doubt that a bigger English side is going to come in for him personally but maybe a foreign club would make sense. I also doubt he'll command a particularly big fee realistically; keepers who aren't brilliant at kicking just don't tend to be in huge demand.

Hypothetically, either or both of:

We need money and someone is offering something for him.

And/or we want to bring in a keeper with better distribution. Like how Rosenior favoured Allsop, and Walter/Selles previously favoured Rushworth. People hate it being said but it is plausible that Selles or whoever our manager ends up being will want to go for a keeper in that mold again and if, say, Dinamo Zagreb were offering a moderate fee for Pandur then maybe that facilitates it.

I think the idea you need a keeper to be really good with his feet in your side to the top end of the championship is bollocks. If you swap Allsop with Johannsen last season we’d have probably finished 4th not 7th.

Funnily enough Rosie has benefitted from that this season. Petrovic leaves a lot to be desired with his feet but he’s regularly keeping them in games where they probably get battered but then nick it because of his shot stopping ability

We scored the least goals in the league this year, obviously there are lots of reasons for that but I think people should be open to considering that one of them is how the goalkeeper affects what we can do in the buildup. There is a reason so many teams play out from the back now, and there's a reason that so many of those teams have keepers who can comfortably chip a ball out to the spare man on the touchline whilst under pressure. Rosenior didn't favour Allsop just for a laugh or to wind people up. He did it because he believed there was a benefit to it.

Jakupovic had one brilliant season. That’s all, I guess the same as Pandur. But Pandur is young and his ceiling is a lot bigger.

Absolutely but I guarantee he’d have swapped him for Johannsen in Jan if we’d have signed him over Pandur. Birmingham are already linked with decent keepers despite being promoted with him.

Nobody is dismissing that it's helpful at all. It's obvious you're a fan of it and that's your choice. But it really isn't as important as you're making it out to be. No scout that I know is being told to go out and find GKs who are better with their feet then handling, shot stopping, positioning, command of their box etc..... do GKs need to be better with their feet then when I was playing, or even 5/6yrs ago, god yes! But it's still not looked at over and above keeping the ball out the net.

A GK like pandur or Johannsen will save you more points in the championship then a GK like Allsop gain you and unfortunately a GK who can do both won't be in the championship
