Actually really shocked if he’s got the most accurate passing, they seem to go straight to the enemy or out of play half the time. Unless it’s only the short passing in and around our own box in which case yeah he probably has been pretty good.
I suspect his accurate passing is padded by the first fifteen games under Dim Tim where he was making about 300 of our 400 passes each game.
More likely to go for Angus Gunn (shown the door by Norwich) who's an international gk....Just a minute.
The talk about Panda's distribution being poor is ridiculous. Yes, he put a couple out of play, don't all keepers? Has he misplaced a pass and put us under pressure, yep, as all keepers nowadays do. BUT these aspects have improved out of all recognition, particularly since Tim left. As for the goal on Saturday, nobody seems to be mention what a good strike it was, hit with real power. He'll be disappointed he didn't save it of course. He's our PofTY and our PPofTY. He was also on the bench for that Championship team of the season. All for very good reason. Also a top lad from the bits we see, who clearly loves being hear. Is he a world beater? No (not yet). Has he turned out to be a very good keeper for this level? Without a doubt. Give your collective heads a wobble.
I had a peek at our top appearances for the season. It's Pandur then Coyle and Slater with some distance to fourth being McLoughlin. I suspect he won PotY almost by virtue of playing the most games. If most in the team were a 6/10 Pandur was probably a 7/10. Last season most of the team were 8/10 and Allsop was probably a 6 or 7/10. So while people want to bring up Pandur winning PotY as if that definitively makes him a better keeper than Allsop, I'm not sure it's as simple as that. Personally on reflection I'd actually make a case McLoughlin should have been our player of the season.
I think Pandur needs another season, assuming we kick on next season, if he has another good year, I suspect he'll get a move away.
I thought Pandur kicking the ball into touch might have been a tactic in the latter stages of the game against Portsmouth. It ran the clock down more, and while it gave possession to Portsmouth, we set up to let them throw it backwards to their full backs and centre backs. They were so slow in their distribution from the back and we just cut the options forward off and left full backs and centre backs free to pass between themselves. You heard a bit of unrest from the Portsmouth fans and eventually they would lump one forward which Egan, Jones, Hughes and McLoughlin lapped up all day long. I think Sellés tactics at the end removed the feeling of jeopardy. I felt really calm in the latter stages and think it was due to this ‘kill the game’ tactic.
Irony! OK, maybe should have just shortened it to "give your collective heads a wobble", especially for those with the attention span of a goldfish.
Hopefully he's our goalkeeper next season , he seems happy enough here we need stability and to build on what we've got
I thought Pandur was way better than Allsopp in the warm ups....I think Ivor will have another good season in 25/26 then be gone to a Everton or such like when City receive an offer they can't reject ....Allsopp won't figure much at Brum next year. They're looking to kick on. I expect them to be up there next season...Play off side.
Oh come on. I can take people saying his distribution doesn't matter as long as he's making saves, but not that. It's not about whether he puts the ball into touch occasionally, not even about not making mistakes with the ball (which should be the minimum we expect). Pandur doesn't contribute to our buildup, because he takes too long to play a pass and because he doesn't help create anything further forward with a long, positive pass. He does and has saved us from losing games by making good saves, but in an ideal world he'd be helping us win games by contributing with his feet.
In the "warm ups" Pandur pings the ball great distance with pin point accuracy using both his right foot and his left foot (not at the same time obviously)
The club need to drastically reduce the squad. The shear amount of ****e we have gathered over the last few seasons is ridiculous. Selles said he wanted a smaller squad- reduce to 18/20, allow him to bring in 4/5 QUALITY players and bump the squad up to around 23/24. Keep the following: Pandur, Lo Tutala, Cartwright, Hughes, Jones, McLoughlin, Egan, Jacobs, Alzate, Puerta, Crooks, Matazo, Zambrano, Palmer, Belloumi, Kamara, Millar & Joseph. Try like f*** to get back Barry & Gelhardt. Primarily need to sign a Leftback, two Strikers and possibly a new young centre back? Contracts/Loans Expired & do not renew- Burns, Amrabat, Pedro, Lincoln & Sinik. Sell Racioppi, Furlong, Giles, Slater, Mehlem, Omur, Simon’s, Fleming & (Callum) Jones. That is all.
It's a bit odd how most people say his shot stopping is good but his distribution is rubbish while the statistics above say the opposite. Best in the league for accuracy.
As said above, I suspect he's best in the league because for the first third of the season he and our CBs made about 80% of our passes.
