I'd be pissed off if he was one of ours!

Even if he wanted to go to Madrid, least he could have done is signed a contract with a reasonable release clause for Madrid.

Boyhood club where you came through the ranks deserves a bit of loyalty for me. One thing I will say is apparently they knocked back £25 million in Jan from Madrid so they had there chance to make something out of the deal, bet that kind of money is went to him as a signing bonus!

In my playing days there were always lads in the team who you knew werent the best footballers. But you wanted them in your team anyway. You wanted their attitude and commitment. You wanted them at your side when things were hard. I reckon Gooch is a bit like that. I would want a player like him in my side. ONien is probably like that for us now, Hume to a lesser extent. They maximise every last bit of what they have to contribute and are there for the hard miles. I have played with some great lads like that.

I captained my uni team and there was a CB who was no good with the ball at his feet. He headed and tackled everything though. He put his body on the line every game and he was the biggest laugh on the bus. I wanted him in my team every week, worth his weight in gold. Coach used to moan about him a bit but I used to say do not take him out of the side. We had some real chats about it but I always felt we were a better team with him, even if we had better technical players on the bench.

It’s something we are missing in midfield imo. Loads of talent but just missing a bit of a know-how, someone to rally the troops. Keano saying he might just hit someone to make himself feel better will be looked at like it’s out of touch, thuggish etc but sometimes that’s what it takes to get the players and the fans going, get some momentum going and take control of the game.

One of my favourite moments of the season was when Samed booted the ball into the stands at Boro for absolutely no reason other than to get the ball as far away from our goal as possible.

I love stuff like that. Like at the end of the games where the best players in the world are reduced to just hoofing it forward.

Not the most glamorous trophy in the world but it was a real turning point for the club after years of disastrous ownership.

Wouldn’t be a huge shock to see Gooch drop back into L1.

Screams Wrexham. Had arguably his best season here under Parky.

Good shout. Would be a solid signing for a newly promoted club tbh

Williams continued: "As far as the Premier League is concerned, you're looking at £110m in media income for a single season. That's at the low end of the spectrum.

"Each place in the Premier League is worth an extra £3m, so if you have a half-decent season then it shows on the balance sheet.

"For a club like Sunderland, you're going to see a boom in commercial and matchday income too.

They earned nearly £16m in matchday income as far back as 2013-14, which was a record for the club.”

"Get promoted this time, and I think they beat that very comfortably. There are fewer matches in the Premier League but what you lose in volume you make up for in being able to charge premium prices and sell-outs.

"Given that they have already increased ticket prices by about 10% for next season, I think they could do £20m there. You'd see a big increase commercially too, probably triple what they do now, so £20m again.

"Add all that together and you're at £150m. With parachute payments as insurance, that goes to around £240m all told.”

Granted time is on his side but Bayern paid the same for Kane and that got them about 70 league goals across 2 seasons not to mention another 20 odd in Europe. Sesko hasn’t even hit 15 in the Bundesliga last season or this and they’re after €80m. I’m not surprised everyone keeps saying strikers are hard to find :emoticon-0102-bigsm
