I’d be very happy with our current centre backs next season regardless of what league we’re in. No need for Ajayi or any other imo.

I like the look of Mbengue from Reading on a free transfer. He’s really quick and aggressive which would give us something different as none of our current centre-halves are particularly blessed with pace. I would be very happy going into next season with McLoughlin, Jones, Hughes, Egan and Mbengue as our centre-half options. Could probably let one of them go as well (either McLoughlin or Jones) if they wanted to be guaranteed starters elsewhere.

We could really do with improving our ability to attack set pieces, a little random selection of teams below and how many goals they have from their CBs paints a bleak picture. You can usually expect a good few goals from those scenarios and they can add several points over the season.

It was great to see Hughes score his header recently and maybe he will continue to grow in that department, but I do feel Alfie should be much more dominant than he is in this area considering his size, but he doesn't seem to be developing in that respect.

I don't buy that its due to delivery either, every fanbase ever complains about corner deliveries regardless.

Us = 1
Oxford = 8
Blackburn = 4
Pompey = 5
Bristol City = 6

Quite a few decent L1 freebies.

Kyprianou, Poku and Mbengue

Would take Kyprianou too. I know Watford, Swansea, Cardiff and Plymouth were interested in January. Probably thought ‘**** it’ though when they heard the ridiculous fee MacAnthony wanted for a player they could sign on a free transfer in six months.

Poku for me especially.
Poku would be a great pick up. Only thing is we already have Kamara and Belloumi who play in his preferred position. Kamara actually matched his goals and assists tally last season in the same division and has now had a year at champ

I haven’t ever watched him. I just think our budget might be quite limited so we could go with what we’ve got. If we lose one though then a free transfer would make sense.

Missed 6 weeks from late October to early december with a calf problem

Not like managers coaches players stress how important it is to get in a full preseason
But hey ho leave it to the experts on here

Pre-season is very important, I agree, I was just pointing out that he was deemed capable enough to appear reasonably quickly. Alzate also did pre-season with Ipswich so he did have one..

He played 7 minutes as a sub at the end of September
And thirty minutes as a sub in October

move on

Yes, having had a full pre-season. He was then injured which is why he didn't play more.

Now Pedro is another matter, he didn't have a pre-season, and signed 26 September, first played for us 5th October.

Move on indeed.
