Transfer Rumours Summer Transfer window

I made this point in a post a few weeks ago

clubs going up have been recruiting the championships best players and a few loans

you can players of the same value who are much better footballers in hidden foreign leagues

 

If we go up, I really hope we don't target players from the Championship. One or two maybe but the value, and talent, is abroad.

 

Too many armchair experts already crucifying the club for unknown future endeavours. What if this and what if that and realistically. Does my nut in. Realistically Leicester should never ever have won the Premier league but they did. You can not compete for anything if you are not in the competition.
I want Sunderland to be in the champions league and winning it. Its a dream but it is my dream and I don't understand any supporter of any team not wanting the same. This game is built on dreams but everybody believes it is built on money that is probably the main problem.
I did not choose Sunderland football team it chose me and I will support and hope that the team gets to play at the highest levels achievable and win.
Too many want instant gratification and show no patience. They whine and whinge at every loss and even complain about some victories if the game was not as pretty as they would like. Then they praise teams like Burnley who TBH are a ****ing horrible team to watch. We have a load good players and we are building to become a better team. The Loan Bob alludes to is actually more like a credit facility which the club can use and it levys us again PSR which means that if we use it it helps us spend more with less restriction.
The conversion to equity is probably being held back until we know which league we are in next season as rules for Prem and EFL are different and the conversion may well release further room for expenditure within these rules, but please let's not get facts in the way of having a dig at the club you support. Everything may well have a different reason than the ones being put forward but in truth these owners have earned our trust up until now
So for ****s sake show some trust and show some real support. Back your team vociferously and get on the same page, this is our gravy train and we should all be on it together.

There is also the counter argument that players will only improve when faced by a better quality opposition? How can they know which levels to achieve if they never face it. The greatest competitors have great competitors to push them and it is the same for the greatest teams. You have to be pushed to your limits and be tested by your competitors and it is difficult to do that from the comfort of midtable obscurity.
I understand the need to build and the effect that defeats may have, but really we don't know what the future brings and we will never know if we don't strive to achieve.
People and players surprise us all the time and who is to say that our team can not do the same.
At this moment in time it ses unlikely but the club has started preparing itself with an eye on the future, the trouble is that we as fans may not fully grasp the planning involved in this (credit facility through family owned buisness, new sponsors, data driven recruitment, new shirt and merchandising deals, crypto currency partners, etc) all these point to a more robust and bigger plan than most of us as fans will struggle to comprehend
We see the here and now and maybe look a year ahead at best but these guys are building a long term plan, and are attempting to build a stable successful club. And on the face of it each little move gradually makes us stronger.
In summary if promotion comes embrace it in the knowledge that it is all part of the building process and the team and the club may well surprise us as much as the opposition, and if we get relegated or do not entertain as much as you would like maybe take some solace from the fact we are heading in the right direction and will become a very effective club moving forward.

 

Can we not get this thread back to what it was started for, names for the summer transfer market

 

A good post. Some valid points well made. As fans we always want success now ( me included ) but we’ve got to appreciate that we are on a journey. In a few years time we will be able to look back and see the path we took but for the moment, as the song says…
”How will I get there I don’t know, Where am I going, I’m not certain, all I know is that I am on my way”!

 

Good idea, you first

 

A big part of the idea behind buying young English players with high potential is that you can almost always ship them on for a profit, there will almost always be a club willing to take them off your hands, either as a quota filling homegrown player in a 25 man squad or someone will believe they can get that potential out of them.

When you take a player from a weaker league, let's say France, the risk is that if the transfer doesn't work out, French teams typically won't be able (or want) to give you your money back, so there is that element of risk.

 

Quite right.

There are four professional divisions, and a good non-league set up, so the likes of Jack Diamond will always find a club.

Foreign players are more keen to change countries as well ...

I think now he’s lost his weight the urgency to replace him has decreased massively

 

Two wingers and 10. Defence needs a refreshing I think, too many missed a bunch of games this season. Then replace any midfielders that leave

 

I had heard rumblings of interest in the city lad at Norwich, think there's some clauses that make him an obligation to buy for them but think if that isn't triggered we have some thoughts.

 

We was good against us the other week, only time I’ve ever seen him mind, wouldn’t be against going back for Callum Doyle either especially if in the championship

 

Yeah I do like Wright as a player, was really good today aswell vs Portsmouth despite them conceding 5.

 

I’d be looking at the Hull keeper, especially if they go down

 

Big talent. Would suggest that we would look to dominate the ball more next season which is a positive in my opinion.
