Well said Rooch, I'd like to think I'm one of those decent posters. Will I stick around after this season? Don't think so regardless of whatever league we end up. Haven't posted much this last month or so as I'm sick of drowning in the plethora of the band of brothers on here who cannot see other than doom and gloom, but finish with the 'I hope I'm proved wrong' get out clause. I made a simple comment a few days ago and was met with repeated attempts for me to justify what is said cos it didn't suit their agenda so I just gave up. When posters like Scout73 walk away some on here should be very worried about this site. Been here since 2011 but can't see it lasting much longer.
I think all of the above is likely. However from there it’s not that hard to understand why some might not be looking forward to the PL experience. Being honest, what you’ve outlined sounds absolutely ****e It’s why I don’t get the sackcloth and ashes thing about this season being ‘our only chance’ either. Most importantly this is our second ‘only chance’ in the past three seasons. But another thing is that the PL sounds like an absolute chore. So while the club could ‘go for it’ and spend money it can’t afford for the chance to get there asap, I’m happy enough for us to concentrate on getting stronger in a gradual, sustainable way with confidence that we’ll get there in time. The whole win or bust mentality from the fans this season makes little sense - particularly from fans who are clear about how bad it’ll be when we get there. Hopefully this year is our year, but I’m not all that terrified if it isn’t. The most important bit of the whole thing is likely to be the fanbase’s reaction to the mentality switch.
It’s defo not our only chance mate. I agree we’ll have bedwetters who are moaning when we get beaten most weeks and it’ll be a bitter pill to swallow obviously but it’s better trying to progress than accepting being average forever because it’s easier. We lose a few names for big money and we can sign players who make us better that’s a given. Yes, Rigg is probably the most talented English youngster since Jude if you believe the hype in the news.. but as of where he’s currently at, in my opinion anyway, he doesn’t even stand out in this division. There’s dozens of midfielders who are better. So selling him and signing a couple of solid additions we’d technically be better for now but that next jump into the PL is massive there’s just no scenario in my head where a team can be promoted from this division and stay up without investing heavily. Unless Man City get relegated through a points deduction Which is the sad reality of how money has absolutely destroyed the game, especially in England. Luckily for us, we’re a fairly big club with decent owners and a large fan base so I think we’ll get back to the PL and stay there eventually. However for most clubs in this division that’s not really a possibility without a mega rich owner coming in so for their fans it must be ****e knowing that you’re expecting the same pretty much every season.
If we all thought the same it wouldn’t be worth having a forum, that’s what they’re for to discuss. Every fanbase has glass half full and glass half empty fans that’s just the nature of the beast I’m not sure it’s worth letting it bother you. It does get lairy at times normally after a match when people are full of drink but I don’t think I’ve seen much go off lately that I’ve thought bloody hell that’s out of order.. There’s plenty on here I disagree with and vice versa but at the end of the day we could be stood next to each other in the stands having total disagreement about a player or something else club related and yet when the ball hits the back of the net that’s forgotten and we’d be celebrating together and that’s what’s important. Not an opinion on an online forum.
The numbers may have changed but,the point the lad makes is still valid. It isn't a given that promotion to the PL and subsequent relegation equates to another promotion the following season. i agree it seems that way with Sheff U and Burnley, but there are any amount for whom it hasn't.
To bring more money into the club, so it's not all on him and Juan would be my guess. Depends if he's happy for the club to Yo-yo or whether he wants us to stabilise in the Premier. It's his choice. I'll be very surprised if him and Juan sink a load of their own money into keeping us up. At least they'll not use the parachute money to fund buying the club though.
I was wondering what had happened to Scout. I guess he must have walked away while I was on holiday. Shame, because he was a good poster.
I'd like to progress as a club to the point where we can compete to stay in the Prem and eventually push further up the table a la Brighton, Bournemouth, Forest, etc. Might not happen, but you've got to be in it to win it. It's definitely not happening without PL money / status, I'd rather take "maybe" than "no chance". Just doesn't sit right with me to give up on ever being a decent top team again, I think I'd get bored. A bit "what's the point?" if we're resigning ourselves to never being more than a midtable Championship club...
Says who? Alan Nixon? If you're talking about the loan from the accounts it's literally from a partner of the dreyfus group
Proper baffles me this whole 'don't want to go up' craic. Literally what is the point of supporting the club if you don't want to get as high as possible. Just proper baffles my head
I'm not saying I don't want us to go up, I'm just concerned what impact it may have on a young squad. Getting battered frequently will have an impact on confidence and value of the squad. I believe another year in the Championship would be beneficial. Another year winning more games than losing in my opinion would be of great benefit. I appreciate if we stay down we will lose a few players, but what's to guarantee these players will stay if we go up. It would be great if we could persuade the ELF to stay if we remain here, as he believes in RLB. Another year down here, and sell 2 or 3 regulars could create massive fees. Buy next level players that maybe Premier ready next year. Just my opinion before I get told I'm talking rubbish (which I'm not, lol)
