bit of a shame really as Yuki was showing well all weekend. Every car is on a knife edge around here. Insane pole by Max.

I genuinely think the only overtake of note was Hamilton on Hadjar. Awful race.

Monaco dull, with the added irritation of Villeneuve on co-commentary.

I’m not into horse racing but the stories behind yesterday’s Grand National have struck a chord with me.
The winning horse, Nick Rockett, was bought by a woman who only saw it race once. She was diagnosed with cancer and died very soon after the diagnosis and the trainer, Willie Mullins, only put the horse out so she could see him run competitively.
Then there’s the fact that the winning jockey is an amateur and the son of the trainer.
And on top of all that the trainer had 6 horses in the race and 5 finished in the top 7 places, including 1,2,3.

Anyone else going to have a little flutter on the Masters? I'm not a huge expert on golf so did read a few tips online and have stuck a tenner on Min Woo Lee at 45/1 each way (top 5 finish gets a payout). He seems to have had a strong year and his putting game has been excellent so seems worth a punt at those odds.

Probably my favourite week of the year!

Seems a good e/w bet, he won last week on a course designed to be good preparation for Augusta.

I've got a few quid on Morikawa as my pick to win then a couple of e/w bets on Lowry, Niemann & Dechambeau.

What I want more than the money is to see Rory Mcilroy finally win though.

I might hedge my bets and stick a fiver on one of the favourites but I've never really trusted Rory at Augusta.

I too would like to see Rory finally get the green jacket. That time he lost a 4 shot lead in the final round was soul destroying. He’s playing well enough but always seems to have one bad round out of the four, at Augusta, which tends to leave him with too much to do.
Butch Harman, a coach who has worked with all/most of the top players at some point, thinks Tommy Fleetwood is a good bet as his driving suits the course and he has been working with him to get his short game in better shape - a bit more lofted with softer landing. His issue, apparently, is putts from 15ft and shorter - he doesn’t make enough of them.

Yeah Tommy has played well at Augusta before as well. It would be one hell of a story for him to get his first PGA win at a major.

Great to see him on top of the leaderboard. Gutted about Mcilroy. It looked like things may finally have changed for him at Augusta and then he goes and chips into the water for a double.

Then he makes another double. Almost unbelievable. From a fantastic round, tied 2nd at 4 under to level par in a few holes.

Genuinely looked to be in the hunt yet has now bottled his chances on day 1.

First day leader at the Masters on 5 separate occasions, at the end of the round, which I believe is a record.
He is also the end of any round leader on 9 separate occasions, the most by any player who hasn’t won the tournament.
I was hoping to see Scheffler drop away but he is 3 shots behind Rose and very capable of maintaining the pressure.
Tyrell Hatton doing well after previously being very unflattering in his comments about the course in previous years. He does like to use the odd profanity or two.
