Didn't McGeady waive some sort of clause in his contract so that he could play in the playoffs? Can’t remember exactly.
Thanks mate, I definitely wouldn't want him starting ahead of Mundle and hope we don't need him. There are two things I will say. Firstly, I'd prefer any winning goal to be scored by anyone other than Watson. Secondly, I'd rather anyone rather than him missed the penalty at Wembley that sees us miss out on promotion to the PL. I think it's obvious why not but I'm happy to explain either or both ... ... as we all know things can sometimes be read in totally different ways.
As per there's no real middle ground. It's a good deal for him and a good deal for the club. What I will say though is that i'll find it a bit strange if he plays in any dead rubber games over someone like Aleksic for example.
It's a weird feeling these sell on clauses. Normally I want players to fail after leaving here but now if they do well then we benefit
Many of our starting 11 who have at least played a season and signed a contract. Not kick up fuss, refuse to sign. At 18 btw. It's ****e. He can **** right off.
We simply do not have Watson's development in mind at this point so I would assume he doesn't get so many chances as he has up until now. Firmly behind Mundle.
No hard feelings towards Watson at all, I suppose he's someone who's ambitious and pragmatic and let's face it Brighton are a much better team than we are with far better prospects for his career in the near future. It's nice when players who've been at the club a while show blind loyalty but you can't expect it.
Not sure it's blind loyalty, if he was ready to go there and push for or even be starting 11 then fair enough. But he probably isn't even going to make the bench yet! So he has went when he had plenty of developing he could be doing here. I have no problem with players improving here and outgrowing us and moving on to test themselves at next level, Clarke did it Jobe likely will in the summer but to leave when you are probably going to go straight out on loan because you haven't even made more than a few appearance for the club. Na not the same and doesn't sit right with me!
I definitely have hard feelings towards him, he’s wanted away for a while but makes comments that indicate otherwise i wouldn’t cut my nose off to spite my face with him though. He plays if he’s our best option at some point and it wins us points and keeps Mundle at his peak.
I view him as a loan player for the rest of the season he’s an option off the bench while mundles fit, don’t want him bombed out however I would rather we develop Aleksic instead, focus on our assets now not Brighton’s might be short sighted by me but he’s looked handy everytime I’ve seen him I’m excited to see what he can offer us
Yes he did. Had he played 1 more game he was entitled to a contract extension. He told the club not to worry about that, because he just wanted to play
10m can get Mephs in full time & two other players, I simply dont get why fans are losing their crap over this, if it Wilson, Mundle or Eli a starter and someone key to the current 11 then yes, but someone who has only played less than 10 games... or is it because hes a Local Lad
I’ve seen lots of posts, over the last few seasons, from people who’ve kept an eye on Watson and actually been to games. They’ve eagerly anticipated the time when he’d be playing in the first team. As he’s a local lad there’s obviously a great deal of pride … … I can totally understand why some are disappointed and feel let down. Graeme Murty, and the U21 staff, must be feeling cheated and angry I’d imagine.
