A bit disappointed in the scoreline but I'm happy where we are with the playoffs definite in my eyes, can't fault the players as we've seen just the past few weeks we've been getting tired. Hopefully we can pull ourselves together for first the run in and then firing on all cylinders come the playoffs as I fancy were gonna have to get past Coventry in the 2 legs.

It’s sad but true if we don’t go up we will loose some of our best

Same mate. Trying to avoid getting dragged down, so limiting what I see. It’s entitled some of it and I hate seeing that from Sunderland fans.

I think that if we go up we’ll keep all but Watson whose heads turned. If we stay down we’ll lose those whose contracts are draining if they have decent offers. Cirkin has quality but is often tired, injured and isn’t consistent and I’m not sure he’ll get what he’s angling for as an example. Neil has loads of ability but the league above is quick and he isn’t. Rigg need a a year to step up like Jobe. Jobe may be the one. Others may get a poorer side offering or the option of being a reserve again.

The problem with forums is that some angry people shout loudest and longest so drown out the rest who don't want the hassle and negativity and stay away. So the 'realists' believe they're in the majority which just encourages them.
It's like this 'snatch squads taking away Junior SCs' which was never the case.

People talk about a huge furious backlash when it didn't even affect the vast majority of people. It's as if they want to believe they can stamp their feet, scream and shout and force the club to do what they're demanding ...

... then claim a 'victory' against the club, weird.

    Scenario 1:
I think we keep all of our top talent but will replace others on the fringe with better
However we will still get beat most weeks
Someone else can do the match threads :emoticon-0101-sadsm

    Scenario 2
We lose Jobe, Neil and maybe Watson plus the loanees.
We invest well, win a lot more games than we lose and get promoted <cheers>

Worst case scenario we don’t go up and bank some good coin for a few players, be a shame to see anyone from this team go (not including poveda samed etc before someone brings them up)

IF we invest that money wisely and the lads that stay develop again we’ve as good a chance as anyone of autos imo of course

We are definitely losing Watson to Brighton according to some poster's, not sure of the rest. I'm hoping we don't get promoted as we need to develop and strengthen further. Best to do this while in the championship

I should be more bothered about Watson leaving but I’m just not …

… he just never seems happy or really bonded with the rest of the team.

Watching him last night he looked rusty if I,m being kind, disinterested if I am being honest, if we could get the money being quoted I would grab their hands off. And I have been his biggest fan but he was outshone last night by 3 or 4 of his colleagues led by Finn who imo just like Rigg before him looks ready at 17 to step up. .

I feel exactly the same about Watson, His body language tells me he is not arsed about being at Sunderland.. If the numbers were right about the fee before, I woul have taken their hand off...his career at this moment can go either way, It would be a risk worth taking by the club to cash in

He may turn out to be another Jack Clarke who can only play one way and will be sussed by defenders. Mundle clearly has more strength, adaptability and power in the way he strikes a ball.

    Another scenario,
Get promoted and suffer as Soton are, but be happy with parachute payments.
Or stay down until we have a squad good enough to compete in the top flight.

I've heard this a few times and I really don't get it. There is no such thing as a Championship squad good enough to compete in the top flight. The step up is monumental, no Prem level players (or very few, certainly not an entire squad's worth) will ever sign for a Championship club... look at the three promoted teams from last year.

You have to get promoted in order to attract that quality of player. Maybe you won't stay up the first year, but maybe with parachute payments you hold on to 2 or 3 "Prem level" players after relegation, and then you can add to that core the next time you get promoted.

"Waiting until we have a good enough squad" is a fallacy, imo.

Yep. Look at Leicester for example. Pretty much the same squad as last season, give or take a few players, that were easily promoted last season look horrific in the PL. Any club that goes up needs to majorly overhaul the squad just to stand a chance at staying up.

Did Leicester ever look a cut above last season though? From recollection, no. They just grinded their way over the line like Sheff U are looking like doing now.

Leeds do look a cut above imo so will have a shot at staying up - if they go up of course, and strengthen well.

Not particularly but they were still promoted with ease and still look horrendous in the PL.

Leeds are very good but would still need at least 6 quality first team signings just to compete.
