Definitely my favourite game at BP, it had everything. Great photo, never seen that before ( think I can see myself). Just wish the game was recorded, I’d love to watch it again.
Don't remember a pitch invasion , but what a game . Think it was part of a run of victories that helped us get promotion. Nice atmosphere , goals , sending offs and City comeback 2 nil down and 20 minutes left and we win with a Billy Whitehurst bullet header in the last minute .
It was a well done boys
Come on City

I think City played Barcelona as part of that tour? We certainly played them around that time. The match programme was up for auction a few years back and I bid up to £350 for it, thinking I was in with a chance. Its quite rare apparently. It sold for £3k.

Out and about today, earlier I stopped at Hartshead Moor services, unlike the old days I resisted the temptation to go up the hill to the village for a couple of pints. :emoticon-0138-think

That brings back memories. If I remember right the village and pub are behind the West bound services so when coming back from games in Lancashire you had to go through the east bound services, across the footbridge and out of the the west services and walk up the hill.

Thimothee Lo Tutala has now been an unused substitute 43 times, without ever making his senior debut for the club - he has absolutely smashed any previous holder of this record, another goalkeeper Saul Deeney (who is still playing for Matlock Town in his 40s).

Can anyone tell me when we started singing Wise Men Say?

And was there a club song before this one?

Just looked on google it says this.

By all accounts, our own 'Wise Men Say' was first sung in the 1970's. Some say it was after Elvis died and others say it was specifically after a Hull game, but it was certainly in the 1970's and I wonder whether one of our own historians can provide a more accurate date and reason.5 Mar 2025.

Hull City supporters began singing "Wise Men Say" around 2002, after they moved to their new ground, the MKM Stadium. The song, originally sung by Sunderland fans and based on Elvis Presley's "Can't Help Falling in Love", was adopted by Hull City.

And this also

Hull City supporters, along with fans of several other English football clubs, previously sang Elvis Presley's "Can't Help Falling in Love" before the "Wise Men Say" lyrics became popular. This song was a popular anthem in the 1960s and 1970s, particularly among fans who were known for their enthusiastic singing, according to the Crystal Palace F.C.. The "Wise Men Say" lyrics are a variation of the original song's first line, often used as a chant during football matches, according to Crystal Palace F.C..

I don't recall 'Wise Men Say' being sung at City in the 70's. Very few clubs had there own songs in those days. The obvious one was Liverpool, YNWA, and every club sang that is if it was there own. City terrace chants in the 70's, like most clubs, were copied off each other, and quite simple chants. Mostly about getting your head kicked in, one song was Jim Reeves 'Distant Drums', sang 'We hear the sound of distant bums, over there, over there, and when they come......' Mary Hopkins, 'Those were the days', another I remember was 'Soley, Soley' but sang 'Oh, David Sunley, repeat...' Forget which group sang it. Cliff Richards, Batchelor Boy,
Also Peters and Lee's 'Welcome Home' I thought that would catch on. It was first sung, probably in the 80/90's when we moved back into Kempton after a sustained period of the stand being closed. That was about the only original song we had. It never caught on. I do remember 'Wise Men Say' being sung in the Kempton right at the back end before we moved to the KC but certainly not in the 70's.

We should still sing Daydream Believer, no one has the words we sing, lucky them. :emoticon-0138-think
