They were lacklustre in their performance. But that's a better result for Tottenham than it is for AZ.

To play so mediocre and come home with just a one-goal deficit, they'll be happy with that. Not the performance, but the result.

Plenty of them get nowhere near the first team I'd not worry about it.

The real problem here is that it's a disincentive for clubs to have academies - simple solution would be to make signing a 2 year contract mandatory (with a buy-out clause) unless you are released by the club before your 16th birthday ... would protect both the player and the club... if another club wants you that badly at that stage they will pay a realistic transfer fee ... ...
