Been reflecting this morning. The positives of the Isidor permanent deal cannot be overstated. Having him secured for next season takes huge pressure off recruitment in the forward position, which as we all know is the hardest.

Whatever happens now we will go into next season with a more than competent number 9.

If Watson has intimated, to his agent, that perhaps he should be looking at a move to the PL ...

... his feet won't touch the floor until he's sitting in a flat, down South, staring out of the window and wondering what happened.

This is what happens when young players don't have the guidance that the likes of Jobe do.

Watson has been in the NE, and at Sunderland, all his life and a big fish in our little pool ...

... if he uproots and goes to Brighton he'll be thrown in with the sharks and have to sink or swim all of a sudden.

I hope he does well and we use the money to advance the club yet again ...

... gone are the days of players running down their contracts while we watch on looking helpless.
Reminds me of Clarkes move to Spurs from Leeds. Hope it works out better for him

Another very sellable asset as well. I think he'll have interest in the summer if we don't go up

Fair points. I think that the Dodds replacement will be very important. We cant afford to drop the standard of coaching or to drop the team spirit that Dodds has helped to create. It will be interesting to see if we promote from within or bring someone in. The easy option for KS would be to bring in someone he knows but I suspect that we will take our time and recruit to specific criteria. It's no longer jobs for the boys.

Some people seem to have taken against Speakman and say he's aloof, arrogant and self-centred, fair enough ...

... but I doubt very much that he's shedding tears over Dodds or wanting one of his chums to come to hold his hand.

He wants success for himself which means success for us all.

If he'd wanted someone he knew RLB would've had someone forced on him, instead we waited and brought in a coach we thought was the right man.

All of a sudden the whole club looks professional from top to bottom ...

... I was told last week that Doris, the tea lady, had new castors fitted to her trolley and a designer tabard with the club crest <laugh>

Makes sense that the striker who comes in would be of Danns ilk. Isidor won’t be dropped especially not now. Bring a very talented lad in to compete with mayenda for Isidor’s spot and it makes sense imo.

he’s been around the Liverpool first team for a while now. Started in the champions league the other night

They were selling them in the club shop the other day

I have had the look like. This is after being out with the lads all day / night down the sea front and town. Meant to be getting sorted to go for lunch anarl <cheers>

I've got to get the little one to a park. I can see it now, she'll be hanging off the monkey bars screaming DAD but I'll be like hang on we are after some unknown French guy from Belguim. <laugh>

Danns is physically ready for the championship which is the main thing with PL loans. Burstow was eaten alive by championship CBs, Danns won't be.
Pacey as well, I've always liked him when I've seen him play

I think this would be a smart signing, obviously we would still need 2/3 more in but Danns would be good

He's not guaranteed starts with us but he also isn't at Blackburn, he will get more minutes at us than he would at Liverpool

Plus it's the experience of playing for a big club that's pushing for a promotion, would be a great sell to them

Where did Echo get £20m figure for Watson from? Or do we think they just plucked that out of thin air to say we might get an offer we can’t refuse?

You don't set foot on the pitch at Liverpool without having fought to get there.

He'll be coming to understudy Isidor but won't be shy if he's brought on as a sub imo.

He'll hit the ground running unlike some of the 'jet watch brigade' people have been getting excited about.

And won't expect a cosy three year contract only to want away if we don't go up.
