No I think Lincoln was suggesting the fans will turn if we lose the next 3 league games

Even if they do I can’t see a scenario where we get a new manager in this season (maybe some kind of internal caretaker if Juric loses the next 10 or something)
He didn’t last long at Roma. Was it only 2 months

I think the vast majority of fans resigned themselves to relegation long before Russell Martin was sacked, and our expectations for the remaining games are simply to play better and win a few games. Objectively, leading at Old Trafford until the 82nd minute was an example of an improvement in the way we play, even if lack of squad depth and inadequate fitness levels, as well as a goalscoring striker, ultimately cost us all 3 points.

As my avatar suggests, I put our deterioration since they took over down to the management of the club by Sport Republic, but now, at last, Dragan Solak is making changes.

We won’t know how effective these changes are until next season, although there is still enough of the January window left to trim the squad and bring in at least a CB and a striker. Whoever comes in won’t save us from the drop, but will hopefully put us in pole position for promotion next year.
I know it’s not exactly positive but I was saying we would go down after I knew what our transfer dealings were. That was before the season started

At the end of the day the proof is ultimately in the performances and results. We've had good periods within games, but we did under Martin too. We've also still had some shocking performances, Brentford being the obvious candidate, but first half of Forest etc. too. We still give away **** goals, though not as many attempting to play suicide ball in our own half. We still don't score enough goals and we still haven't picked up any points. I know it's only been 5 games, but if we don't see improvements in all those things between now and the end of the season, then I imagine we'll be looking to make it a fresh start next season anyway. Might not be fair on Juric as he's been handed a **** and asked to polish it, but a clean break might be best if we don't see enough improvements and especially if we take Derbys record.

I think Juric would’ve been perfect and possibly kept us up if he had been appointed after the play off final win.

Hard to really judge him now as even if we lose every game I won’t blame him because coming into this situation and motivating players is basically impossible. My main reservations about keeping him for next season are:

1. If we continue as we are and lose 14/15 of the next 16 (very likely) then the fans will turn quickly if he doesn’t get off to a flying start next year. A fresh start would be needed

2. If he does start getting results and fans are happy to keep him, I don’t think his style of play would be effective with a team who most teams would sit back against which is what we would face in the Championship. Ironically a possession based style would be most effective, not Martin thickasfuckball but some watered down version.

So yeah in either scenario I’d rather we replace him I guess, my suspicion is that we won’t though

My cynical hat is on full force now. The idea of this club building something is hilarious when after anyone has half a decent season they’re basically lined up to be bought. Just look at Dibling. **** it Sulemana has had 3 good games and suddenly it’s like every club wants him and we’d probably be open to suggestions.

We’ve been trying to sell Sulemana for ages. Hardly news.
We have but now we finally have a manager getting a tune out of him and he’s the only player that looks threatening going forward. Shouldn’t these be the players you’re trying to keep?

You’re following the wrong sport mate. The idea that any team outside the top 4/5 will ever build anything to be competitive over a sustained period is a complete myth. Finishing 8th is the absolute best we could ever hope for nowadays, and even that is probably too high realistically.

I think that’s what upsets me most. It’s become a myth to hope for that. The sport was not always like it though, money really has broken it.

Hmm… I don’t buy that.

Leicester won the league the season after avoiding relegation. Forest looking likely to get top four in their 3rd season in the Prem, Bournemouth, Brighton, Brentford all historically sh*te teams & they’re pushing for top 6. Villa & Fulham were in the Championship not so long ago. It is totally possible if you get the recruitment and management right
