True. Talk of us wanting a versatile forward and a striker but we've got Mayenda already who needs minutes. He has shown he is decent on the RW.
For all Frigan does look alright coming in off the right he's still played the entirety of his career mostly at CF. It's a different kettle of fish playing out of position in our league. Even Isidor doesn't look great on the wing here compared to CF and Zenit fans were convinced he was better on the left. I can imagine Frigan would want to be competing with Isidor but I don't know the lad haha. Also we have Ahmed back now, can't see us signing 2 personally
He’s said he wanted two all along mate those words have came from RLB even with abdullahi coming back I’m just going off what I’ve saw of Frigan think he’ll make a good winger
But that would still be Isidor, Mayenda, Abdellahi, Cannon and Frigan as centre forwards - with Roberts, Mundle, Watson, Aouchiche and (FWIW) Poveda as wide options. Ten players fighting it out for 3 starting shirts and 3/4 sub spots. Not least the issue of where all the players are comfortable. Does Frigan join if he has virtually no chance of playing through the middle. And beyond that, what of Ogunsuyi?
I'm totally ambivalent tbh mate. People keep saying, 'What happens if Isidor is injured'. My response is, 'What happens if he isn't'. We're currently one win off top and that's without a single goal or assist from Le Fée ... ... once we have a few like Mundle, Rigg, Brown back we're going to have a bench that'll destroy people in the last twenty minutes of games imo. I'd be happy to see Cannon/another come in but I'm not desperate. I still believe we'll see a PL loan come in providing they're not insisting on game time.
Technically we have Abudllahi to add to the mix as well though, he's like a new signing. Can only see one new striker coming in. That would give us 4 - Isidor, Mayenda, Abdullahi and Cannon/Frigan. With Trey Ogusunyi as back up (or ideally loan)
It's a balance thing. For me the versatile forward needs to be one who finds playing wide natural - and sees themselves as a wide player at least as much as they feel they can play centrally. Can't be a striker getting shoehorned in and being huffy because of it. And to be perfectly honest, I don't think we need the versatile forward - unless one of Watson or Mundle are out for the season.
I think the versatile option would probably be a winger more than a CF though if I were to hedge a bet.
I get that opinion and can respect it. For me personally though you need at least TWO strikers who you can rely on hitting the net or at least know they have before. Especially in an auto's race. I honestly don't think it'll be long until Isidor gets a knock, he's been taking some hits in recent times and holding his leg and back etc
Agree with that, it needs to be someone who's played mostly on the wing but also played the odd few CF rather than the other way around
I still don’t think we’ve hit our stride yet, results have been fairly consistent but once the performances improve and we start to get a more consistent 90mins which will come when we have more options and more chances to rotate I think we COULD really take off
And I get your opinion mate. I just wonder what level of player would come knowing he's on the bench unless Isidor loses form or takes a knock. The players we have will all benefit from the midfield which is becoming seriously good. That's my view and I honestly believe Le Fée will be the spark that ignites us. I've watched Isidor, at games, spinning in behind, running the channels and starting from his own half when he can't be offside ... ... he's ignored/unnoticed so many times I'm surprised he keeps smiling. I'd imagine he's on the training pitch, with Le Fée today, going through signals and manoeuvres. The fact they share a common language might even help and they won't have to do this embarrassing 'hand over mouth' shyte I keep seeing on TV. We know Isidor can outpace defenders and hit the target ... ... now he has someone loading the ammunition half a dozen times a game.
