Burstow isn’t very good, but I like him. He’s very Jekyll and Hyde, he could bring a 50 yard long ball down under control as smooth as anything then his next touch could end up anywhere between here and Japan.

What surprises me about him is he looks like he’s fast and strong but when it comes to tussling with or outrunning a defender he never really seems to be either.

I think he could come good but much like Kamara he would be far better off playing bit part roles in a confident team that’s playing well where he can settle in to find his feet. Hopefully we will be that sort of team once the windows shut, we can pull away from the bottom 3 a bit and there’s no real pressure on anyone as we’re not playing for much. Maybe then they will have more freedom and confidence to flourish.

Shocked still we’ve not heard a name of this winger that’s coming in. Potentially could be defining for where we end up as presumably, unless we pull something of a surprise off, this guys gonna be in our best starting front 3 for the rest of the season with Kamara and Pedro.

It's that exact reason why I like Puerta so much. He's come into the club from another country, probably didn't speak much of the language, saw his compatriot leave as soon as he arrived and took a while to get into a team that has massively underperformed. Yet he's just gotten better and better as the season has gone on despite the obstacles and at 21 years old, I'm very much looking forward to him being a key player for us in the future (assuming we get his contract sorted).

Did something go wrong for crooks in the US?

and whose place does he take in the line up?

The local rag seem shocked he's gone, but he's one of a few surprises...

SANDY, Utah (ABC4) — In the span of one year, Real Salt Lake’s high-powered offense has been dismantled, leaving some fans questioning the team’s direction and competitive outlook.

The departures of key players, Andres Gomez, Anderson Julio, and Matt “Tree” Crooks, mark a dramatic shift in the club’s roster but fans were shocked this morning to see MLS Insider Tom Bogert report that team captain and leading goal scorer Chicho Arrango had been traded to an inter-conference rival- which has not been officially confirmed by RSL as of publishing.

Matt “Tree” Crooks: A leader on and off the field returns to England

Signed from Middlesbrough in February 2024, Matt “Tree” Crooks brought a unique blend of midfield creativity and community impact. Crooks recorded 3 goals and 5 assists during the season and was lauded for his charitable works in Utah and abroad. However, last Friday RSL transferred Crooks back to his native England, where he joined Hull City in the Championship, leaving the team without his steadying presence in midfield.

Puerto has got a fantastic work ethic and has some real ability on the ball,he never stops!!.He's the type of player who could have a huge future in the English game and not just at the level he's currently at?

Very strange
Sounds like he’s a good lad off the pitch too
Apparently he’s got epilepsy and supports charities who work with people with the condition

I think it could be in place of Slater. Selles might have Alzate and Puerta, with Crooks in advance of them.

He will be good to lead the press, while also having the habit of arriving late in the box (Myler-esque) to put away the chances Slater is currently missing!

Feel that a unique blend of midfield creativity and community impact is what we’re lacking at the moment tbh. Hopefully Tree can high-powerize our offense and bolster our competitive outlook.

For all the talk of Burstow being not ready, playing out of position, etc he's still scored 2 goals. In terms of goals/mins played that probably puts him close to top of the list. I'd persevere with him as long as there's no standout replacement.
