We’ve been linked to edouard haven’t we? On loan at Leicester so could come in should they get Ferguson, could also be a lazy French link too of course
On the striker chat, I really like Isidor but we play three across the front. I know Roberts has picked up his contribution but if we can get into a position where we have a better line leader and the likes of Mundle and Isidor either side of a goal scoring 9 we’d be seriously hard to stop.
Can't see Evans Ferguson myself but that's the type of player we need even if it's a loan deal it be decent
10 goals at this level for a striker in a promotion chasing team is hardly worth talking about to be fair. He’s got 5 goals and 0 assists in 18 games which is nout to shout about. He’s a decent striker but I agree with a few of the comments above in that he has work to do to cement himself. He’s scored a few worldies this season which make people think he’s done enough already but Maja for arguments sake hasn’t scored any worldies yet has 10 goals and 2 assists in 20 games. It’s all good mentioning all round play but at the end of the day he’s there to score goals.
I really like Isidor and he’s been a good signing. However, I do wonder if us signing a striker in January maybe makes him staying permanently much less likely? New striker plus Mayenda and Abdellahi on permanent deals with minutes needing to be found for ogunsuyi makes it tough to also accommodate Isidor.
You can't compare Maja with our strikers, or West Brom with Sunderland ... ... their whole game is set up around him and he's scored around half of their goals. They've scored fewer goals than us and Maja hasn't scored since the middle of November.
I can't see the Evan Ferguson link being real, there must be Premiership clubs who would take him, massive potential, instantly the best striker in this division if he ends up down here.
I think so when you look at our play style… we don’t focus on a striker goals come from everywhere and even with a doubt Wilson is averaging a goal every 2.8 games. id be happy with that.
That’ll be the difference between us going up or not though, how many times have we failed to finish off games early doors when we’ve created enough chances? That’s our 9 plus Roberts that we’re not expecting to score goals because of their all round play.. so who are we expecting to score?
But that shows that with a clinical striker we’d be doing even better, no? Wilson is currently sitting amongst the likes of Nahki Wells, Michael Smith and Callum Lang for output this season. He’s showed some real glimpses of quality but that’s not good enough imo, if his all round play was as good as Josh Sargent and he was racking up assists then fair enough but he’s not.
At Swansea our first goal was a well worked set piece, the second a run from the defensive CM and the third a late run into the box from midfield. As I mentioned we've scored more than two of the three teams above us ... ... I can't remember many situations where Maja could've scored when Isidor didn't. Maja hasn't scored in December and last scored a winning goal in early November.
Really? There was one defo against Bristol City alone where he put one header wide and the other header he had was straight at the keeper from point blank range but that’s probably being nit picky and there was the one he put wide from about 6 yards out against Stoke too when it was whipped in from Alese - that’s without even thinking beyond the last few games. Wilson also has only scored one goal since the start of November, Maja has 3 and an assist… I just think our fans get themselves very excited far too soon because they see something like the goal against Coventry. Since that match he’s had 13 shots inside the opponents box and scored 0. He’s scored 5 goals from 38 shots, Maja has 10 from 37 shots. We always have to be looking to improve and that position isn’t one that’s set in stone just yet for me.
