No doubt he’s a good player, tends to play well against us, pocketed Clarke our first year back wouldn’t be against the signing just can’t see it
It’s mad how quiet it is for Safc transfers given how soon the window opens. Guess we were desperate for a striker for 3-4 windows ish so always loads of speculation. our signings tend to come from left field these days so harder for journalists to make the lazy links we used to get.
Echo reckons Rusyn is off. https://www.sunderlandecho.com/spor...o-leave-during-transfer-window-report-4914132
Ogusunyi on the bench from now please, he can still feature for the 21s if he doesn’t get on the pitch
Going off past comments from RLB about how he would like more ready to go players on his bench and in the depth, and also his comments about the recruitment being set up to look for players in his preference we could see some decent level quality arrive this window. A more like-for-like CF option to Isidor would be nice, a striker over 6ft who can press and run etc. I reckon 2/3 players who are ready to make an impact will come in
I want a striker that is good with his back to goal, feel this is where Isidor struggles - he makes some nice runs in behind but isn't great showing for the ball
I feel we might have to subtract some qualities in favour of other ones especially for strikers available to champ teams, I wouldn't be able to think of any that had a back to goal ability, good at making runs, got good pace, over 6ft tall, good finishing, good movement etc
Isidor is the main man for me and has good link up but can be stronger would be nice to get someone like mendy to bring on later in games as I feel Connolly isn’t up to it personally
Yep. I fear we won't target one though because of the numbers we have in that position. Isidor, Mayenda, Connolly, Abdullahi, Ogunsuyi all need minutes and then if we can't move Rusyn on we have him as well. We could let go of 7-10 players in January and not even notice a difference.
Mayenda is basically a winger now to be honest, i personally think he works better at right wing too. RLB said we will be looking at the forward areas so who knows
We need the team to adapt to Isidor rather than bringing in another striker … … and he needs to adapt to the team. I don’t think there’s a great deal of change, on either side, there are good signs already. Whoever plays on the wings he needs support from them. I noticed Mayenda hanging around out wide, way too much, when Roberts has the ball and cutting in. That leaves Roberts with one less option so Isidor is heavily marked. Jobe showed what can happen with a late run into the box at Swansea.
He shouldn't be. He's better than Connolly, Rusyn, Trey and Abdullahi (granted we haven't seen any of him but availability puts Mayenda ahead) and you can definitely make the case he's better than Isidor in our system. Then out wide he isn't going to get in the team ahead of Mundle and Watson on the left and I doubt he'd play ahead of Roberts on the right even though, again, I think you can make a case he'd be better than him. What I don't want to see is him being 3rd choice striker and 4th choice winger. He wouldn't deserve that. Pointless him being here in that scenario.
Isidor still has a lot more to prove before I'd call him the main man. He shows glimpses of real quality, his goals have been class and at times his movement has been good For me he doesn't lead the line well enough, he doesn't drag defenders out of position to create space for others enough (jobes goal against Swansea is exactly what I want to see him do so hopefully more of that), he gets pushed about far too easily for being a big lad He needs to learn how to show for the ball more with his back to goal and act as that bounce pass option, he hasn't shown enough of that for me I wouldnt say I'd be disappointed if we didn't sign a striker tho as we do have some talented players in the forward areas but I know the club will still be looking at other options in case a quality player is available (that's the same for all positions) Isidor needs to show a lot more for me, he has the potential to do it so I just want to see it now
Hmm see i've seen him a few times nearly every game recieve the ball with his back to a defender and play the ball out wide.
Can appreciate your comments I just don’t agree. I think his movement is good and drags defenders a lot. I feel we miss him doing it because the midfield and wingers haven’t been making the runs or crashing the box, RLB even said he’s working on how to attack the crosses. I really think Isidor is a good striker and movement is his biggest plus for me I also think his link up and quick passing is good he sets the ball to midfield or wingers a few times a game. Can definitely do it more but he does do it shows how different people see the game
At the start he was. Isidor has got a lot better at the defensive side of our system now as noted by RLB and he’s just a much better player
