Typical contradictory Chronicle report but who knows ...

https://www.chroniclelive.co.uk/spo...ews/sunderland-ready-move-celtic-hot-30522113

'Sunderland have been heavily linked with a move for Celtic youngster Daniel Cummings. The 18-year-old is in excellent form for the Glasgow giants’ youth team this season. Cummings scored again last week in the UEFA Youth League (his fifth in that competition this term), to take his overall tally for the season to 22 goals in 20 matches.

The report adds that Sunderland are among a number of English clubs that have “run checks” on Cummings, along with the likes of Brentford, Wolves, Fulham, Ipswich and Burnley.

The fact that so many Premier League clubs are also circling Cummings does naturally put a dent in Sunderland’s hopes of signing the teenager.'

5 goals in the UEFA youth league this season as well, as far as strikers go he is as good as you'll find in Britain at the moment at that age, I wonder why he hasn't signed a contract?

Celtic have had a few youngsters refuse to sign contracts, the lad Vata at Watford was similar. I think it's the lack of pathway into the 1st team, they've not had an academy break through since Tierney

They're the epitome of short termism ...

... and their fans don't care because they keep winning.

All a bit sad in Scotland at the moment, even worse than the PL here.

He's been subbed off in 9 of the 16 games he's started.

He's been poor recently but again, surely if increasing value of players was being forced on RLB then Aleksic would've been brought on for him more? The argument falls down once you look at it properly.

bit behind in thread but be interesting know how many of those subs were directly browne replacing him, it was as if this was the token sub we'd get and since his injury it hasn't happened and it's more a case of the manager not fancying others in that role more so than playing rigg every minute.

regardless of what side you come down on the debate re mins, if the manager is not prepared to utilise folk in the midfield then someone has to come in jan and we have plenty of fringe player to make way to accomodate it

He's played Aleksic and Aouchiche recently but he's not one for chopping and changing ...

... it can work but he seems to want calm above all.

5 times from what I can see.

Yeah there's no need for the players he doesn't trust to be at the club after January. It's fine as a one off for fitness or just to get some minutes but we can't have players like Ba and Aouchiche playing consistently for the u21s, it's just blocking development pathways for academy players. Another trusted body is needed in the middle of the pitch.

If we do sign anybody it will be someone who can go into the first 11 straight away because we can all see that if the player isn’t up to scratch RLB will not play him, young prospects excepted of course such as that Celtic teenager who would go into our U21’s to develop.

To be honest, we don’t really need anybody if all our players are fit and not injured so premier loan(s) should be the way to go for cover until the season ends. A couple more Mepham quality type loans.

I’ll bore everyone to death with these 2 all window but Tyler Morton as another midfield option and poku from Peterborough would be great additions for me, I’m content with our full back cover but we could do with a young lad whose a specialist right back to come in and develop behind Hume

This brings back bad memories of Anthony Stokes.
That was the last time we were linked with a highly rated Scottish striker.
