Poku plays off the right, can beat a man but can kick the ball straight and has awareness of other players moving in his team
These last few weeks show we were right not to bother with an additional fullback imo. Of course we miss Cirkin but that’s because he’s excellent. With Alese and O’Nien we’re perfectly able to cover the games that we need. Hopefully Huggins back before season end too. May need to look again in the summer, but for now I wouldn’t bother with a short term full back. Another solid midfielder and a bit of magic for out wide is all I’d aim to do in this window. Maybe we take an opportunity if one presents itself but we really don’t need major surgery.
I think we could do with some cover for RB/LB, someone with a bit of quality and experience on a short loan. We're already having to play people out of position and I don't think we can rely on Alese (Cirkin too to an extent) staying fit. It's too much of a risk for me. Other than that a new RW for sure and possibly a DM depending on the status of the new bloke who's been injured all season.
I would like to see Connolly up top now. We need to find that striker that works with the game style. Mayenda probably one for the future. Isidor I am not so convnced by. I would be tempted to go for another striker now, but appreciate the club may not want a 5th! Right winger needed. Pure pace will be ideal imo, obviously with a bit of talent as well. Not sure we sign another CM unless Samed goes back. Samed and Browne are two players the club will expect big things from still. I think a left back is important. When Cirkin is out the gap is massive. I am not keen on Alese at left back personally.
Dont know much about him mate, but a position we could definitely look at if the right option is there. A loan from the prem would maybe be the call, if they are comfident in Poveda.
@Scout73 Have you seen much of Lyall Cameron at Dundee? Putting up some good numbers and is out of contract next summer.
Yeah he's OK but don't think he has what it takes for the championship tbh. Tidy wee player but lacks the physicality for the championship Watched him for Scotland u21 live a month or so ago and he was really poor - tbf the whole Scotland team was
Yep that's the only reason they'd sign him imo, Mccowan was Dundee's stand out CM and he went to Celtic Dundee have some decent players tbf and Cameron is quality for them, just think his size will limit his potential
Thinking back to original thoughts on what we need, still don’t think we need much at all. But we need players who can create and score. Ideally A utility full back who can play both sides A right sided winger to compete and push Roberts ( ohh for another Diallo) An attacking mid to complement Rigg. I’m not sure Aleksic is that player. cheers Santa.
Bob,I like and respect you.....but please don't ****ing start with that nonsense the minute we are in a bit of a stutter with results. ****ing tedious man.
Re: the RW thing. Can we not give Mayenda the job. Failing that could we give Ba 6 games, Jewi 6 games, even Adil 6 games. Surely with a run of games one of them can step up. We also have Roberts. Surely he will get out of this slump in form. I would leave this alone until the summer.
Thought Ba was one of our better signings 18 months ago but seems to have lost his way a bit, mind he's not getting minutes with the first team and limited time with the U21s we can hardly criticise the lad. Seems Reggie doesn't trust him but I think he offers more defensively that PR does. Without a few run outs we'll never know.
How about a cheeky bid for the one and only Barry Bannan! - Sensational - We would be on Sky every week
I’m probably way off but is there any possibility that Roberts could play in the position currently held by Rigg. Mayender could be tried on the RW for a few games. Another thing, how about trying Onion in Neil’s position with a couple of run outs in the under 21’s (or premier reserves, whatever they are called) to see how it works. We may already have the ideal Neil replacement in house and it would free Neil up for a more forward position. Instead of having just 4 for the 3 midfield places we could have 6, all good and could be used as substitutes, especially during the last 20 minutes when the opposition often score against our tiring players. The games Tommy Watson is getting are already giving the lad confidence and he will be seriously challenging Mundle if he keeps on improving at this rate.
No chance we can risk O9 playing u21 football to try and find out if he can play the CDM. O9 is not suited to that role as he struggles playing on the half turn, that's why he's good at CB as the games in front of him. CDM might be the hardest position to play in football, Neil is def having teething issues with the role that RLB wants him to do but Neil is not an issue in that role. He's played well more games than not, I do agree we need another CDM to challenge and push him - will Sameh be that player? Roberts might be able to play the AM role, the issue I have with him there tho is his movement is shocking. In the AM you have to be really clever at finding space to get on the ball and you have to get yourself into the box, these are areas where Roberts is really poor imo
