Turns out that Gazza was talking ****e all along https://www.standard.co.uk/sport/football/tottenham-paul-gascoigne-tickets-b1188137.html Methinks a few Twitter accounts owe Levy & Co an apology...
Gazza's own agent has backed the club's version of events, for anyone that can't be bothered to click on it. She sounds like she's trying to stop him burning one of the few bridges he has left.
Not so sure on that (need to pair the sunday fixtures against EL ties etc) . The Soton game at first glance does seem bizarre though.
The League Cup quarter-final against Man Utd will almost certainly take place on Wednesday December 18th. We face Southampton away on Sunday 15th and it's at 7pm, for some stupid ****ing reason. The following game is at home to Liverpool, which is also on Sunday. All of our confirmed December games are either on Thursday or Sunday. Rubbish.
A weak(er) starting XI against Soton would be possible for any PL top third club with that fixture schedule , EXCEPT FOR Spurs (who would go utterly < standard > in that game) .
"That is why no amount of cajolery, and no attempts at ethical or social seduction, can eradicate from my heart a deep burning hatred for the Woolwich Nomads that inflicted those bitter experiences on me. So far as I am concerned they are lower than vermin"
Interesting interview this. The CL final engraved watches doesn’t surprise me. You could tell as soon as the semi final was won that some at the club acted like job done and imo didn’t realise how close they were to immortality. Imagine Spurs had won that game. https://www.standard.co.uk/sport/football/tottenham-hugo-lloris-daniel-levy-2024-b1192635.html
Lloris honestly sounds like a sulky brat here Did it really never occur to him that this was 100% a club sponsorship thing, so whatever sponsor could say they had the entire Spurs squad wear their watches before a Champions League final, which is the game that has to be played these days? And that it's incredibly likely that something similar occurred with the Saltypudlians? And that, oh I don't know, there was likely an updated gift if the team won? And that's before the obvious point that the alternative is somebody moaning that the squad got to a CL final and yet the club didn't get them anything for it - which is why Los Ladrones do madrid, that team famous for accepting second best, tend to give their players engraved Rolexes before Champions League finals...
Interesting comment in here https://kvcwesterlo.be/2024/11/07/constructive-talks-tottenham/ Constructive talks between KVCW-club management and Tottenham Hotspur Board Loan agreements for Vuskovic and Devine pave the way for further collaboration with English top club With Luka Vuskovic and Alfie Devine, the English top club Tottenham Hotspur loaned two of its young talents to our club. The performance of these two players within this loan arrangement left all parties highly satisfied, prompting both clubs to meet this week to explore deeper and more extensive collaboration opportunities in the future. Since the arrival of Vuskovic and Devine, KVC Westerlo’s sports department and Tottenham Hotspur’s have maintained close contact. Thanks to Tottenham’s careful monitoring of their loaned talents, a monthly review meeting is scheduled to go over Luka and Alfie’s performance reports. An additional meeting between both clubs has now been added to these monthly reviews. Tottenham’s chairman Daniel Levy, Chief Football Officer Scott Munn, and Technical Director Johan Lange joined our vice-president Hasan Cetinkaya and board member S. Berk Ercan at the table. The impressive performances of Vuskovic and Devine on the field for Westerlo have proven to be a catalyst for strengthening future collaborations between KVC Westerlo and Tottenham Hotspur off the field as well. As a first gesture of appreciation for the current partnership, both club boards exchanged team jerseys. This may be the first step toward a future exchange of ideas, players, and resources.
The club has been charged by the FA over homophobic chanting during the 3-0 win at Old Trafford: https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/articles/ckgzl1q5y19o I assume this is for the Solanke chant about Arteta taking it up the arse, which appears to have been abandoned. My main objection to it was that it wasn't very good and the reference to Captain Black was weird and pointless.
So now the club is sponsored by the service people use to watch livestreams with either dreadful American commentary or incomprehensible Dutch commentary
Bentancur reportedly staring down the barrel of a seven-game ban, which of course will start during the Christmas glut In unrelated news, there appears to be a cotton wool shortage in N17, likely due to Archie Gray being wrapped in so much of it
I'm guessing the social media admin's had a busy morning, as the club's finally gotten around to creating a Bluesky profile...
Yeah I’d be interested to see that. He’s young but he’s got huge potential. Give the kid a shot and you never know, he might just make it his own.
I'd really like the squad to be balanced well enough for him to get the opportunity. He just seems to calmly move into whatever role he's asked to fill and gets on with it. Often goes unmentioned when people talk about our youngsters, as he plays very maturely.
Bentancur banned for 7 games. He can still play in EL fixtures. EDIT: Apologies, just saw KH beat me to it in the Bill Nic.
