The bit I don't understand is when Kaba was shooting people in a packed nightclub (and the demographics of that club from the CCTV was 99% Black) the only people he was hurting were other Black people. When he committed GBH stabbing someone at 13, what colour was his victim? What about the first time he was jailed for firearms offences, who was he hurting? Which by the way, if he had served his full sentence would have had him nicely away in a jail cell and he'd still be alive. What about his partner, who when pregnant with his baby had a domestic violence protection order put in place preventing him from being near her? Do Black babies lives not matter? Why lionize someone seriously hurting your community? What the actual ****?
There needs to be a really honest and forthright conversation between certain communities, however it's going to be really difficult with **** stirring politicians and pressure groups as well as a totally irresponsible hack media. I'm not Black so its probably easy for me to say, but I do think the Met is it's own worst enemy. There needs to be a conversation with the public which needs to make very clear that you can't opt out of being policed. You can't opt out of a criminal justice system and most of all a really easy way to avoid contact with the police, positive or negative, is to avoid crime.
There needs to be education in schools about what Police in England and Wales can do, not bullshit information they've gained from American films. I'm not suggesting that the police make tactics public, but a full explanation of the law would be really helpful.
As a final note, I'm really pleased the Great British public don't know much about guns because that's a positive for society but if I see one more suggestion about "shooting the tyres" or shooting the weapon out of hands I'm going to scream.
